Surely people would prefer to leave Scarborough as it is than implement paid parking? Sure, it needs a bit of a facelift but not at the cost of ripping off the public like the city does.
And u can bet your last dollar that all the other beaches would follow suit pretty quick smart.

Yeh I'd be seriously pissed if they start making you to pay to go to the beach.

I don't care about Scarborough, but other beaches will probably follow suit pretty quickly...

gotta pay those bludgers' wage/allowance rises or there must be a lurk coming up overseas that naturally requires their first class flight to attend

No mate - I think the inflating rates $$$ should cover beach works , local councils are disappointing

Edit: Actually I probably should add that by putting meters up at beaches it will encourage families & folks to verge park outside other ratepayers houses in sidestreets etc causing by-problems - just doesn't make sense at all mate

Then the rangers would be slugging them with parking fines no doubt.

You got it - then the aggro starts - it will force Scabs beachgoers to other beaches clogging up those .... more by-problems
Anyone know whether there's been consultation with Scabs ratepayers ???? Yeah I know silly question

Seemingly all parking along the beachfront in the U.K is paid parking, too bad if your a windsurfer.

Stopped yesterday at Whitworths Marine shop in Leederville. Parked straight opposite shop, went inside for around two minutes and noticed two filthy parking inspectors preying on their victims.

Ran outside, she was already booking me with the electronic hand thing.

Managed to talk my way out the $80 fine, just.

The more victims they can find, the higher their wage bonus.

These inspectors/council have no conscience, more about linning their pockets.

Paid parking at the beach is bullsh!t and should be legislated against by state govt so the councils can't implement it. The beach belongs to all. Simple. It goes against our aussie way of life, 99% of the world wants to be able to surf, fish, swim whatever like we do and councils wanting to use it as a revenue raiser is just wrong.
I'd rather have beaches with zero facilities than pay or be restricted to 2hrs for a windsurf.

But PM33, seriously you deliberately parked where you should not, or didn't pay. And even though you were liable for a fine she let you off. Dunno what ur complaint is

I think if they pay us $5 to go the Scarb beach that's sounds about fair

If we have to pay will they take responsibility for security

Would solve our shark problem Less people in the water means less interest and coverage. Not to mention your one time warriors would be gone leaving the more willing surfers out and hopefully a better line up!

When I worked at Ob. City, there were a couple of smart FIFO workers that parked under the hotel, caught the hotel courtesy bus to the airport, came back the same way 2 weeks later and claimed they lost thier ticket.

max charge (back then) was $8.00 for a lost ticket.
bus was a freebee.

At Manly, you have to punch in your number plate which is then printed to your parking ticket to place on dash wtf. Do they think we are going to on sell them for the remaining 24 mins.

a little off topic but this is not the case at all nearly all of uk kitesurfing beaches that do have paid parking usually have a free option a little further along the beach

in fact the only time i've ever paid is to cross private land (campgrounds)in the uk to get to a beach

That aside i think all beaches should be free raise the funds another way

The long term parking at Perth Airport was unreal....until the operator wised up to what was happening and shut the loophole. 21 days parking for $7.00.

while I was at Sunrise Dam, you would see the incoming crew handing thier parking stub to the outgoing crew- so instead of paying for 2 weeks parking- they only paid for part of a day.

dunno if it still works, last time I went to the airport the short term parking had numberplate recognition cameras hooked up to the ticket machine.
