Being an old bastard that grew up listening to 2JJ and triple J I find it increasingly difficult to listen to the crap that the "youth network" dishes up today. I don't mind 2FBI but even that is a bit too youthful for me at times.
Ive been using the Pandora App for sometime now, where you can tailor your own radio stations to your likes. For example a few of my stations are 80s Alternative; Punk radio, Classic Indie Radio and Funk Jazz Radio.
Anyone else using this App?
Also, in ITunes you can stream radio stations that cater for any taste, so you can free yourself from the mindless commercial dribble that we're subjected to on a day to day basis.
I am just waiting to get hooked up to iinet. They have all these streaming stations on the 'freezone' so they don't count to your downloads at all - can stream at good quality 24x7 and not worry.

Best part for me is that they have most of
www.soma.fm
and
di.fm
which are my favourites.
I use the tunein app. my favourite station on there is Koffee but it can get a bit repetitive if you listen all the time so I also have the JJJs listed in my favourites.
Pandora ROCKS!!!!.......been listening for 12 months now. Option to like/dislike songs and artists.....my ear holes simply love it.![]()
TuneIn radio is another good app available for both iTunes and Android.
It gives you access to a pile of radio stations from around the world free of charge (apart from the data of course)
Never used Pandora, used to use last FM but switched to Spotify. Has the ability to do artist based stations but it also allowed me to listen to full albums.
Just put a record on...remember them.
There coming back, was over in Canada and everyone's selling repressings.
Pandora is great. I find it best for listening to 'new' artists that have a massive back catalogue without having the tedious duty of listening to 5+ albums there's just not enough time in the day. Plus you listen to some tracks out of context from the album mixed with other new interesting artists. I treat it like my iTunes library and have basically added all my favourite artists.
Since discovered so many new artists that cross over genres, the info on the artists is pretty good too (on ipad).

Well actually I am using a soft called Audials one to record online radio stations from Pandora. It works with other similar video streaming websites very good and I see that they even have a tutorial about how you can record musics from this website particularly:
audials.com/en/how-to-record-music/pandora.html
i just download gilles peterson world wide radio shows and get some culture.
I used to listen to Gilles and after a while I discovered that I don't want to be that cultured. I found him to kind of fall over the edge when it came to eclectic taste in music. Do I really enjoy these 78rpm b sides from 1950's Argentina? Really?
You'd probably like The Sport Of Selection, which has sadly ended it's very long run now. A little more "contemporary" than Gilles, everything from modern jazz to rap and electronica and folk.
Friday Night Sessions is the bomb. Old episodes still available and relevant.

I can't stand all the ads on radio stations but only other option is triple J and that sux ass. I like all types of tunes so may look into pandora. I find it a bit sad that people in their 40s are stuck in a time warp and can't seem to listen to anything past the 80s music. Generation gaps between parents and kids. My dad was a Jazz only type guy and I used to hate how he couldn't listen to anything else which made it hard to go a long drive with lol.
but only other option is triple J and that sux ass
94.5 FBI no ads, and a lot of local talent
