Hi there, long time lurker, 1st post!
Anyone into Paramotoring? Would love to get into it myself but not sure of the easiest way in.... it seems there is some going on in Albany and occasionally Geraldton.
Anyone in Perth get their kicks from this and got any good recommendations?
Always good to have a chat with a fan!
Hi stefk,
Bit like yourself, im trying to get in to it. Your right about a albany they have limited places available in december and feb. these will take 9 days or more depending on weather. Once completed the paragliding course at a later date you can do the two day motor endorsement which allows you to fly supervised.
Bali has courses which can be validated in perth once complete and the east coast has courses.
There is talk of a paramotoring straight through course but i dont think that will happen anytime soon.
So far i have noticed the ppg guys are very freindly and keen to help newbies.
The hard part for me is getting the time of work to get the ticket.
Where are you based?
I had to google it so i know nothing about it but will say they are over my head most weekends of Mindarie. They fly from either Burns beach way North or they fly from Jindalee south, i guess depending on wind direction. A few get right down over the water and they must get a great view of reefs and possibly big swimming fishes![]()
No idea how to track any one down but thought it might help..![]()
Yeh there seems to be a pretty regular small crew who launch in the clearing near Chippies Cafe at Jindalee so it'd be worth heading up this way if your NOR and having a chat. I see them flying a lot over the warmer months so you shouldnt struggle to find them
There is a PPG facebook page where all the guys post. Also a forum called skypirates but it's not used as much anymore due to FB
Hi everyone, thanks for your comments, greatly appreciated. I'm in Mt lawley so might take a punt one weekend and head up to Chippies / Jindalee. Any idea what time they normally launch?
Daylight, I have seen a few of these courses and was thinking about signing up, might be a good excuse for a trip over east, perfect excuse for the Qantas FF to get used up!
If you are planning to catch up with the guys sometime be great if you could let me know when... don't fancy spending my whole weekend sat in a park :)
During the week i tended to see them later in the arvo i as i'd go down for a swim after work so perhaps i just noticed them more. I saw them up often so they wont be too hard to track down when conditions suit ![]()
Try contacting either Chippies or Burns Beach Caf?. They take of from those two spots so they may have a better idea..
I agree most afternoons they seem to get out. Nice clean days with little wind.
Thanks guys - I got in touch with Mark Wild who seems pretty well entrenched in the PPG community over here.
The facebook page in case any one wants to know is called "PPG Western Australia" and has the dates / times of when they will be launching.
Thanks again!
