Aparently he was going to be the lead singer for the Rolling Stones, before Mick Jagger came along, back then I recon he had the style, What do you think?
The guy certainly has a great stage presence but I doubt the veracity of of what you said:- "Aparently he was going to be the lead singer for the Rolling Stones, before Mick Jagger came along,".
The vid says 1979, so he would be 10 years at least too young to be a contender, plus he is a little bit too country to fit the "R&B" mood of the time.
The Beatles and the Stones kicked off big in the mid 60s (ie gained a world audience). They had been going in the UK for a few years before 1965.
I can't say I have a favourite member of the Rolling Stones but the Stones are pretty much my favourite band.
Charlie Watts is the one I find the most interesting though. When he is interviewed there is absolutely no crap about him. He is dead set on ground zero.
Here is he playing:- The precision of a surgeon.
BTW. How much are you loving it at Exmouth (not Esperance
) lately?
Bit of a Sea and Climate change for the better I'll bet!!
Pics please or it has not happened.![]()
My apologies Cassa. You are right about Paul Jones.
This from Wikipedia:-
As P.P.Pond, Paul Jones performed duets with Elmo Lewis (aka future founder member of The Rolling Stones Brian Jones) at the Ealing Club, home of Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated, whose singers included Long John Baldry and Mick Jagger. He was asked by Keith Richard and Brian Jones to be the lead singer of a group they were forming, but he turned them down.[2] Jones then went on to be the vocalist and harmonica player of the successful 1960s group Manfred Mann.[1] He had several Top Ten hits with Manfred Mann before going solo in July 1966.[1][3] He remained with His Master's Voice.[3]
