... no not that sort of party, a political party.

I believe in a small government for the people run by the people. We gather the issues, you vote on the solution.

Here are some policies I thought of this morning.

In no particular order.

1.- Alcohol tax of $.50 for every unit of Alcohol. This will reduce the price of the good stuff and increase the price of the bad stuff.

2.- Legalise Marijuana, tax of $5 per gram or a unit of THC. This will enable people to buy the nice stuff instead of that dungeon weed hydro paranoia junk.

3.- No increase of speed limits but speeding tickets ONLY issued if exceeding the speed limit by 25%.

4.- No deployment of troops without a referendum.

5.- Resource super tax stays BUT they can offset this with R&D. Up to 50% of profits for all companies and be invested in R&D tax free.

6.- Marijuana tax money goes to Schools, with bonuses paid to students for academic excellence.

7.- Luxury Foods Tax 10-25%:
Sodium > 250mg/100gr
Sugar > 10%
Fat > 20%

8.- Luxury food + tobacco taxes to go to Healthcare

I could go on and on but I bet you already got bored.
Feel free to add your own policy

thanks to the internet (and independent publications like uncensored) we are beginning to see just how much corporate media is nothing more than another mechanisim of social control.
we have been deluded into thinking that the "fourth estate" still operates as something that functions to 'keep the bastards honest" whilst in reality its there to keep the conversation within the boundaries of what is "acceptable" discourse.
ALL POLITICAL PARTIES ARE NOTHING MORE THAN PSY-OPS, all being two sides of the same, shopworn coin, giving us choiceless choices to fight over, while the real holders of power control them both.

Well the events of today sure support your argument... seriously, they do.
I always view the media as public opinion manipulators.

1. Reduce the working week to 30 knots for all, 7 days a week.

2. Flipper to be appointed minister for tact

3. petermac to be appointed grand wizard, controller of the universe

4. National Broad Band network to be sensored to filter out anything other than Seabreeze forum discussions on conspiracies and porn

5. Zero rate income tax for all. Zero rate company tax for all. No tax on income, or earnings. All tax is on expenditure. You want to work, you are encouraged, you want to buy a fast car, you pay.

6. Tax on production of waste, rebatable against recycling of waste. You produce waste you pay. Waste being rated on differing scales, but everything from Carbon to mining spoil is called waste. Principal being that everybody is encouraged to recycle and become efficient. Nobody is penalised for working hard or running an efficient business, or investing to be come more efficient.

7. Scrap stupid points system for motoring offences AND Flysurfers 25% limit. Instead of 3 points you loose your license for 3 days. Instead of 15 points you loose it for 15 weeks. Instead of zero effective penalty for repeat offences until you hit a point at which you get a 12 month ban, why not ramp up slower, surely more of a deterent ? Live without you car for 3 days maybe you will think next time. Live with 3 points -who gives a toot, you can get another 9 before anything happens.

8. Government expenditure capped at 30% of GDP. The cost of government capped to 7% of GDP.

I am deeply sorry.

I do not know how I missed that. I have corrected it now.

Maybe I just assumed it would be there.

I am not sure how to make ammends. Perhaps 30 years as a hermit on a pole repenting my mistake.

Carantoc: I'm willing to negotiate point 7... how about we keep the 25% above speed limit ticket, but add if you have ANY at fault accident you lose your license and must go get another.

Apology accepted. Sorry for my uncompromising stand on freedom of porn, i probably could've made do with a seabreeze thread about the conspiracy of porn.
I would join you on the pole but then we wouldn't be hermits anymore would we.

ON SPEEDING: if we all did regular driver education we would not be eager to speed and maybe less competant drivers could be weeded out.

Perhaps instead of the pole I should be whipped.

Can you point me in the direction of a good web site that instructs in the art of whipping. I needs lots of photos and videos of how it is done.

And yes Flysurfer, having now meet with my focus groups I agree there is probably very little excuse to being more than 25% over the limit. You shouldn't have to watch the speedo to know you are 25% over. If you have to then maybe you should have to go re-sit your test.

To make ammends I will go and re-sit with my focus group.

Why not make it more stringent (after all speeding's speeding) but increase the limits to a reasonable level.

For instance if you are caught speeding at all you get penalised, but increase country and freeway speed limits to 130 Km/h?

I lived in the States where the posted speed limit was 70 mph, if you did under 80 you would get run over by a truck and screamed at by everyone else, when it's like that it makes you wonder why there's a limit posted.

I would increase the speed limits, BUT at the end of the day it's our money, and leaving the signs as they are is free... reprogramming speed cams or ignoring those who are <25% is a lot easier.

Anyway why such objection to just 25% over? Going 50 in a 40 zone you'd be fined!
Also there are a lot of slow in the head people, increasing speed limits would make them feel uncomfortable, but cutting the faster in the head people some slack will keep'em happy.
