Who's got them, how do I get one, what an awesome idea!!!
Saw one for a new model VW golf, apparently he bought it second hand and it already had one.
I've got a new car so can't just get a crap key cut for it.
Why does plastic make it better than whatever a cheap key is normally cut from? I'd be worried about it breaking off in the lock. You can get a key cut to open the doors, just won't start the car.
I think he means a non-electronic key.
I have a Subaru Forester and it has an electronic key. I got a plain key cut at a locksmith for less then $10. I put the plain key in my harness pocket, and the electronic key is locked in my car. Just make sure you don't put the plain key in the car ignition as this will set of the immobiliser.
Some cars have fairly unique keys and you may have to order a non-electronic one direct from manufacturer and that can be a bit more expensive. Eitherway I think they are a better and cheaper solution then those surflock things.
Hey we just picked up a car for the lad and both key's are battery type, any idea who or how to get a standard one cut?
Do the guy's at the local shopping centres do this ?
thanks mac
i had to get another key for our 2002 au falcon, had to purchase key from the ford dealership, take it to a locksmith/key cutter to get it to open the door, but not start the car, supposedly take back to ford after it was cut to have it programmed to start the car. the mechanic that services the car said he could program it but only succeeded to program new one but also deprogramed old one, he is still scratching his head,he also did something to the stereo so had to take proof of ownership to ford to get a code to make the stereo work again(that was free, the key saga is charged at every step) anyway still haven' been to ford to get the old key reprogrammed.![]()
bring back my old hq ute, didn't even need a key for that![]()
