(Unsolicited testimonial)
Dear Busterwa,
Yes all that stuff works brilliantly!
Powerbands are the last word in new medical technology.
Energy polarisers are the last word in tapping into the unused power of your car engine.
Fire Power fuel energiser pills are the last word in getting extra power out of ordinary car petrol.
3 drops of hydrogen peroxide in a glass of water each day will give you eternal life and good health forever.
You standard car engine can be made to run on ordinary tap water. Just send me $499 for the plans. (send it right now and it's yours for $98)

The world is just full of unbelievably good inventions for those that are willing to part with their hard earned money.
(or is that, "A fool and his money are soon parted.")
yours sincerely
Pweet

What a wank!

Someone's making $60 off a piece of rubber and a shiny bit of plastic..........Why didn't I think of that!!

If you make a flashy enough website with "scientific evidence" to back up a product - some idiot will buy it.

You'd think those charlatans would feel a little sensitive about presenting themselves for ridicule wouldn't you. Its amazes me that they are not tarred and feathered. They are thieves after all. Surely the law has something to say about it.

That's the funny thing about these magic devices, like water driven cars, fuel polarises and Fire power fuel tablets, and power balance plastic arm bands.
They are all frauds but if anyone steps in and stops them selling them they use that as proof that they actually work and the "big oil companies" or the "medical authorities" or "the government" have used their authority to supress the technology.
(I agree that sometimes this does happen but for the most part it doesn't. )

In that regard you are powerless to do anything about it really because the more that is done to get rid of them, the more they say it is proof of how well it works.
It's all a bit of a joke really.

All you can do is warn people and give reasons why it's a fraud.
If they choose to ignore the advice then at least you can smile about it when you see them a year later and ask how their investment in water burning car engines is going.
Or how their energy polariser is going.
Or how their power band is going.
Or whatever.,..

The other odd thing is, many of them will say something like "Oh it's going great, but I'm not using now because,.. blah blah (weak excuse).
They hate to admit that they were conned. Specially after being told they were being conned in the first place.

There's lots of things about human behaviour I find really interesting considering everyone has the ability to give things a rough analysis and come up with the right answer. But once emotion kicks in it totally over rides logical reasoning.

Well it would have to be wouldn't it.
With none you need two legs to balance on.
With one, you can balance on one leg.
With 2 you can balance when you're legless.

(I'll take two please.)

Hmmmm, sounding a bit emotional yourself there...

me personally, I'm a fence sitter, pacebos' are quite often as good as the real thing (hence the $1 jobby), but i wore one to a pinball comp when they first were posted out and got well over 3,000,000,000 just on the first ball. couldn't tell anyone there i was wearing it though (it was pink).

n.b, when i think about it, that score was the first ball of the first game i played when i first arrived and hadn't any chance to lube up on the beer...

maybe it wasn't the pink magic fairy braclet afterall...

ebay, store dummy iphone, like the ones you see on display at the mobile phone stores, something like twenty bucks plus postage.

my ar se is clenched tighter than a chuck norris fist, there's no way i'd fork out for an iphone when a normal everyday run of the mill phone does all the same things a phone should do, so when she saw that i'd gotten her one she was so excited she didn't even question the lack of packaging or reciept (she usually immediately freaks when i come across 'pub' specials) and jumped straight in spending five minutes trying to turn the thing on.

the look she that had come over her when she realised she'd been had, those two seconds before she burst into tears and started throwing things at me (some sharp and heavy things too) was totally worth the subsequent barring of all carnal activities.

Doc's right. Placebos are really effective.

I think there's something in placebos even if you know about it.

Suppose I post that I think Busterwa is a really clever guy. Busterwa reads it and it hits his brain. There's one part of his brain that's thinking "yeah, I suppose I am pretty smart. Pretty good. Yes." etc and there's another part that's thinking Gingerpom is just making a point in his post he doesn't really have a view.

The point is that the bits don't have to reconcile or agree on stuff. Busterwa still has a warm feeling even though he knows that it's just making a point.

Hence why flattery works, even though it's known to be flattery.
