Watched TV the other night and noticed some gratuitous product placement and am keen to know how far brand names have infultrated our day-to-day lives.
I have always been made curious of the term "hoovering" as a description of using a physical force, namely a vacuum to clean stuff.
Thought that the company in question could go galactic as Richard Branson did, and give sponsorship to the space shuttle with a product placement in the form of a green and white border crossing sign painted on the inside of the space shuttle cargo bay doors like "you are now entering the Hoover of space" for all to see during the next man made satelite launch.

Are you a Coke addict or Vegemite packer or sumpin? I have a headache after reading that and need a Nurofenor a Panadol. Maybe you have Gladwrapped your inhalation orifaces once too often? Can't chat tho - I have a jumbo to catch.

Just doesn't sound the same as:

Are you a cola addict or yeast spread packer or sumpin? I have a headache after reading that and need an ibuprofen or a paracetomol. Maybe you have cling-wrapped your inhalation orifaces once too often? Can't chat tho - I have a jet plane to catch.

Yep - it's everywhere. I tried (and partially succeeded) in having my kids use terms like cola, paracetamol etc for ages.. I gave up cause they were made fun of for refering to coke as 'the fizzy black cola'. Sigh.. harm minimisation is the best you can aim for.. now here's a word from our sponsor!!

Anyway longy, put your generic branded foil hat on and go back to reading the carcinogens on the plain brand cereal flakes.

Hoover is what a vacuum cleaner is called in the UK.

In the same way that Eski is used here....

When the Matt Fatgitson got down on all fours, probably a first (with trousers on) in a decade from the time it took him - to uncomfortably mop up with the handy wipes he sprukes - I made wifey change the channel.

She grumbled.. muttering all the way to the boudoir to watch the show.

I changed channels to some bouncy flouncy, farrrrted, and contemplated how good it was that Fatso had given me the out there. I think the flouncy may have been subliminaly selling cantelopes.. Can't be too sure tho my concentration was lapsing.
