Wow. I live in Melbournes west approx 600m from refinery tanks. makes me wish I bought a bit further from them.

Hee hee a tanker will wipe out 600m on a good day let alone a refinery.
A little truck accident....

I don't think you can go past the Pepcon fire/explosion.

CCTV - Explosion on refinery in Mexico. (09/19/12)

The state-owned Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) reported the death of 30 contractors/PEMEX workers and 42 injured at the Centro Receptor de Gas y Condensados de Pemex Exploración y Producción located in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Mexico.

Emergency serives, local police, estate police, Federal police and military personel cordoned the area and shuting down the Monterrey-Reynosa Highway. Firefighters from Reynosa, Monterrey and the surroundings counties rush to the scene to control the fire that took over 10 hours to be controled. At this time at some workers remain missing.

Some unofficial sources mention that casualties may be over 50 workers.

Attitudes to safety standards tend to be a bit......relaxed....in some countries- compared to others.

A company I used to work for bought out a couple of Chinese explosives factories, and had the Chinese executives come down to Australia to see how stuff is done here.
The Chinese blokes were being shown our safety protocols, procedures and methods.
They cracked up laughing at what we have to do here- at the time (in China) you only had to report an industrial accident if more than 10 people were killed!
I dont know if its changed since then or not.
