Sex fuels earthquakes, says Iran cleric
AAP April 18, 2010, 2:32 am

A senior Iranian cleric has claimed that dolled-up women incite extramarital sex, causing more earthquakes in Iran, a country that straddles several fault lines, newspapers reported on Saturday.

"Many women who dress inappropriately ... cause youths to go astray, taint their chastity and incite extramarital sex in society, which increases earthquakes," Ayatollah Kazem Sedighi told worshippers at Friday prayers in Tehran.

"Calamities are the result of people's deeds," he was quoted as saying by reformist Aftab-e Yazd newspaper. "We have no way but conform to Islam to ward off dangers."

The Islamic dress code is mandatory in Iran, which has been under clerical rule for more than three decades.

Every post-pubescent woman regardless of her religion or nationality must cover her hair and bodily contours in public. Offenders face punishment and fine.

But this has not stopped urban women from appearing in the streets wearing tight coats and flimsy headscarves and layers of skilfully applied makeup.

Iran is prone to frequent quakes, many of which have been devastating.
The worst in recent times hit the southern city of Bam in December 2003, killing 31,000 people - about a quarter of the population - and destroying its ancient mud-built citadel.

I think he is right.

The earth moved last time my wife and I made love and it scared her so much she has sworn off it apparently.

I am seriously considering buying a Wii.

Very funny Cisco! The earth has not quaked for me for a long time, well not in unison with anyone else anyhow!

On a serious note, what I can never understand about Muslims is how bloody gormless it makes them look. If they are unable to control themselves at the sight of an attractive woman, scantily clad, naked whatever, how weak does it make them?

And the solution is to hide them from view? Basically what they are saying is that they are beyond control, leastways that is how I see it.

Come to think of it, would it not be easier for all of them to undergo voluntary castration - would solve all of their problems and then we could have a decko at their women and see if they need to be covered up!

Hmmm,.. there might be something to this.
Today's news reports an earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale in Kalgoorlie,
And we all know what goes on there. Specially in Hay street.
This can't be just a coincidence.

There could be a thesis in this somewhere for a budding engineering or science grad student.
I mean if we can come up with computer models to link CO2 and global warming, it should be a piece of cake to come up with a computer model to link "dolled up women and extramarital sex" with earthquakes.

You could then make a graph to show the likelihood of a catastrophic earthquake in any particular area.

The X axis would show debauchery measured in the proposed new unit of debauchery, the "debauch" (db).
I spose that would have to be on a logarithmic scale because debauchery tends to be that way.

The Y axis would be the likelihood of an earthquake, measured in percent probability.

And the Z axis (yes it's going to be a 3D graph) would be then be the resultant strength of the imminent earthquake, measured in units on the richter scale.

That way you could determine the likelihood of a catastrophic earthquake for any area just by doing a quick survey on how many dolled up women were engaging in extramarital sex, convert this to a unit of debauchery and enter this onto the debauchograph for an instant assessment.

You could use a few examples to establish benchmark points, such as Iran because they have lots of earthquakes, and Kalgoorlie because they just had one, and say Newcastle, because they had one a while back.

See? I've done most of the work already.

Sounds pretty sweet to me.

Kalgoorlie + Sex = Earthquake. Those Iranians are smarter than we think.

Edit - sorry pweedas, just read your post.

California featuring the san andreas fault and the majority of the adult film industry would be a case in point...

New Zealand has made Lord of the Rings and still has some big earth quakes... maybe I missed something
