To be eaten by shark is like win on lottery.
Odd the same.
Why not to join this too together?

New shark lottery system will work like that.
All participants pay one off fee say $5 lifetime, city council, and other sponsors support with extra funds.
The winner have $1,000,000 at least for any extremities eaten or family have $5 mln for whole lot .

That should bring more tourist willing to participate too .

Cheating like covering himself with fish oil - prohibited.

My wife buys me a ticket in the shark lottery as often as I can....

Got to be in it to win it!

If I win, my wife gets $1.6m.....

And the possibility of a less annoying husband....

Maybe one who doesn't spend all his time brewing beer and kiting!

Great idea Macro, you could call it something like um, life insurance?

I've an idea for something a bit like a video store. I was looking at my bookshelf on the weekend and there are all these books that I've read, and I'll probably never read them again (they're like trophies now).

What if we could all donate our old books to something like a video store, but instead of renting videos people could rent books?

Great idea! And there's, like, a nominal fine if people don't return the book on time! We could call it a "Lye Berry" or something...I don't know.

Not exactly, Life insurance cost $100 per month for the fraction of that reward.
Besides once you are going to claim could be declined because you have been involved in such a danger activity ( swimming in the ocean) that Insurance company will cancel your policy if know about it.

So for this few unlucky victims could be arranged statutory reward.

You ask any shark victim if couple million dollars make any difference in their lives.

Reading all your ideas inspired me and I thought of the following.
I go to work every days with my car like a lot of other peeps and I noticed that in most cars was only one person, could we all go together and a few guys would buy a big people mover type or vehicle and we could all board it and and and we could have a stop in every suburb where the guy would go at a certain time every day and and and we could all pay for the fuel like $ 10/15 depending how far we go and and and could have stops in the city ??? Would be amazing! We could call it common big car transport or something like that!

You could even have ones that ran on parallel metal lines. Nah, crazy idea!

Do the maths Macro...

$5 each.
$1,000,000

You'd need at least 200,000 contributors before this becomes possible.
That's 1 in 100 Australians that would have to contribute $5 for insurance they won't receive until everybody else has contributed.
Nobody will give you $5.

The alternative is you take the pool, whatever it is when you become dinner.

And of course once somebody "wins" the prize we all have to contribute $5 again. If it's a bad season we may have to contribute a few more times.
I think you'll end up with an average of 1 person collecting "the prize" every year or two.

So an annual fee, to smooth everything out, may be more applicable. Say $1.50. Perhaps $2 for Western Australians.

This is probably in line with what an insurance company would charge for specifically shark attacks.

This is exactly what insurance is, but with a haircut on top for profit.
