Fyi...(seeing that we don't have a fishing forum
)
With the increased shark attacks and sightings near populated beaches, it amazes me to find out (just today) that there'll be another 3 species of sharks (makos) added to the 'protected' list, as are Great Whites!http://www.fishnet.com.au/forums/viewtopic.php?p=986491&sid=5f41590cc88c97711675fb2ea5980d50
thats pretty amazing.

With an opinion coming from a fishing background Mr SailHack, I would have thought you would be more supportive of protecting sharks in general ...?
Without the shark, it's your beloved fish population that will be most affected!
Everyone should know by now, it's the king of the oceans job to hunt the sick/injured/mutated fish, keeping the breeding stock viable.
Fishing lesson 101: You need fish in the sea to be able to fish!
Grumbles: You show a valid point...
Well it's good to hear your not taking a completely stereotypical point of view (no sarcasm intended).. there seems to be some level of common sense driving your brain.. and, cheers for practicing catch and release.
Agreed, there are more pressing issues such as gill nets, shark nets, illegal export etc....
Over regulation would be a bigger problem if humans weren't such a sh!t species!! You have to admit there's is a disturbingly large proportion of recreational fisher-people that take more then they can eat....at this rate of pillaging, any stock is unsustainable - if there weren't limits, people would take advantage!
What's to blame for the seal increase? Surely addressing the source would be more beneficial!? Obviously, being a Queenslander, we don't have too many seal problems
NOTE: I'm not looking to sh!t stir here - over fishing is a serious problem, worthy of educated/sincere discussion.
