Hey Guys,
I was playing touch footy the yesterday and a kid ankle tapped me, i fell and landed on my arm and hurt my shoulder. it's fine when i walk around and i can do pull ups and it doesn't hurt, but If I lean on it i get a sharp pain. What do you suggest to do so i can go windsurfing tomorrow.
PS. Any kite surfers pretend im one of you and help me out

Do you think it may have popped out?

You'd know if it was dislocated - believe me - and you certainly wouldn't be doing any pull-ups.

If the sharp pain does not get noticeably better in the next day or so suggest that you go and see a Doctor.

[In my experience, breaks and fractures ache like buggery - but are not a sharp pain].

I subluxed mine 2 years ago and was able to do most things that arvo... Didn't realise it was an issue until it came out in a rugby match. So maybe 'popped out' wasn't the right terminology...

Here's the non-medical advice: do take up kiting, little involved there...

Seriously, there's more than one kind of dislocation, they're quite different actually. Plus you can partly dislocate, etc. There is quite a range of pains experienced by different individuals with a same shoulder problem, so people here won't be able to help from their personal mishaps.

However, go see a doc - shoulder problems can be a bitch and last forever if not looked after. I wouldn't go windsurfing if a particular move or range hurts sharply.

I'll pm you...

Describe your landing...
Does it hurt to lift your arm above your head?

Well i landed on my elbo to stop myself is probably best way to describe it. If i lift my arm above my head with an out stretched arm it hurts but if i bend at the elbow it doesn't.

Cure for sore shoulder-
WINDSURFING
I went out at manly today and my shoulder feels heaps better. I can lift it above my head now and its a little sore now not a sharp pain.

Not a full cure but definitely helped

Sounds like a fairly common AFL injury. That's why quite a few of the blokes have shoulder strapping.
