Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers on catching snapper in Brisbane?
I am thinking of heading out on saturday morning to the Port of Brisbane. There is a rock wall out there that i have been told produces some quality snapper. I have never fished for snapper before so any tips or hints you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

It's downstream of 2 refineries, a huge fertiliser plant, and at least one waste water treatment plant.

It's up to you, but I wouldn't eat anything I caught there

So is it right at the mouth of the river? Yeah i have never been fond of the idea of taking anything from the bris river but my old boy caught a few out there and they were a delicacy.

Here's the absolute best snapper spot in brisbane.

first get yourself on the bruce highway. then head north. four or five hundered K's should do it. Then simply launch and head wide looking for some rubble.

don't forget to give yourself an uppercut for living in brisbane

Get in your car and Drive to Adelaide. We have some snapper that will fill your boat. The snapper you catch we throw back to small.

hobie, I live less than an hour from the SA border...you're right! I've caught a few snapper over there that I thought looked like being good size...only to have to throw them back for being too small!

I guess if they manage to live long enough dodging the amount of sharks you guys have, they deserve to have their lifespan extended!
