last night on SBS a british scientsts life long quest was documented.
in short he says low birth weight embreyos are more likely to suffer
some diseases in later life...... ie diabetics . Your placenta programs you for life
and time in the Woombyian cave is the most important time of your existence.
this must be a huge breahthru on genitic engineering........ what you recon?? ![]()
I weighed 7 lb's at birth, now 270lb or 124kg's and 6'11". My wife was 10lb and I won't say her weight now but she is around 5'10".I think birth weight does not have much influence over your growth but maybe other illnesses could be a factor. Just my observations.
Not too sure about this one. Do they offer an idea what a low birth weight is or just less than the standard? By taking it on face value they say any child born early or before 40 weeks will more likely suffer from diseases later in life as the birth weight of these babies will usually always be low(er). I think whats more important in the early stages of a babies life is;
-Health and dietry habits of birth mum
-Breastfeeding
This is how the newborn builds up its immunities given the babies own immune system can take some time to develop.
A lot of diseases we suffer later in life are usually hereditary or genetically derived.
BTW I was 6lb 9oz or 3kg
