Wish - to have a topic dedicated to repairs, designs, & tips and tricks to getting there. Not sure on the best way to achieve what I am asking for. So trolling for your feed back / thoughts please.

Why? Have come across some great threads on this subject which get buried too quickly on the main topic pages they are posted on.

Format - Suggest under General Discussion, but with a link on each Forum pointing back to the one central store.

Some background - I read a great thread under the windsurfing forum on making and shaping boards, another on patching techniques. On kitesurfing forum a thread on spray painting an old board (inspiring - still to try this!!), I just had a great response for a help request on some basic fibre glassing, another on fins also making wooden boards (lots of links) on the surfing forum - recall reading about SUP paddle lengths somewhere etc.

Your thoughts would be not too much [}:)] a little no ok

Cheers

Yeah, good idea I recon. Too often, repair advice, design, tips tricks, home building stuff just gets swamped...........Make it so!

Yea that would be good, some sticky threads so you can refer back if you need to.

We have a section on here for articles. There is a great one in there somewhere about building a vaccuum pump from a fridge compressor but I can't find it. Maybe this section can be made a bit easier to navigate and when something good and helpful pops up in the forums we can nominate it to be moved or copied to the articles section. Or if you find a particularly helpful thread, pull out all the useful information and create and submit your own article.

I agree - a thread on 'Repairs' etc would be good, and another on 'Making/Shaping' as there is definately some interest in both topics...

I learnt a lot from the replies to AquaPlow's fibreglassing SOS...

The old "short board for a big guy" topic comes up reasonably often too

Interesting thought!

Unfortunately forum threads (even stickies) are not really the best way to do this, at least not in web 2.0 anyway...

Currently the best way to do this is via the articles, which everyone is welcome to contribute to here: www.seabreeze.com.au/Members/Content/Contribute.aspx

We may have a better way to do this in the future

Have a 'vent your spleen' forum where people can have a whinge.

Then the useful forum topics won't slide to page 2, never to be read again.

For sure, the Articles section is a great way to go, especially for windsurfing...

Another way to get to the goodness quickly is to use the often missed "Filter" dropdown at the top of the topics...

So we can filter people out with this filter? Top work!

Judging by some of the confessions on the 'No way should the fat kid have got suspended' thread perhaps there should be a 'Dear Agony Aunt' forum.

On the subject of filters...
U remember that 70's beat - Some Girls do, Some Girls don't

Well Some forums do & Some Forums don't

Laurie - any clues to the variable displays??

Why not try a new Topic for this under the General Discussions forum (with the mirrors on the other forums as suggested for say 5-6 months - + filters option at top)!!

Cheers

us landsailors use our construction and sailmaking forums rather a lot, but sometimes the threads can veer off into silliness and waffle, then the info you need gets lost in the thread itself, but it is handy to have those sections
