Forget the death of television, it never really lived anyway.
But is punk now officially dead ?
Iggy Pop doing life insurance ads
Henry Rollins presenting 'Full Metal Mayhem'
(and whilst not strictly punk) Alice Cooper telling the world he loves talent shows
Agree Carantoc though Its had many deaths...this may just be the buggering of the corpse![]()
For me it was the day that Husker Du signed to Warners
- the subsequent album (Candy apple grey) was mixed / produced like it was meant to be played in an elevator
Punk was dead before it began. Theoretically Punk was a backlash against multi-millionaire musicians singing about the pain of being a poor boy, and over-hyped virtuoso musicians twiddling away with their big haircuts.
That's all fine, but who wants to pay to hear somebody who can't play? And what do you do when those guys who can't play end up being multi-millionaires.
Similarly, when real musicians start playing punk their innate creativity and skill kicks in and they turn it into something that is real and not really punk anymore eg. Clash, Cure, etc
Obviously none of you went to soundwave.... Perhaps too old huh???
Get with the times .... Punk is forever you ****ing ****wit ****ers
Even punk knew punk was dead. And that was ages ago.
As the temperature drops on the drunks out in Clapham
I turn on my box and it's like punk never happened
The community's charged up and the West End's alight
And it's Noel Bloody Edmunds on a Saturday night
"Punks not dead......................she's just gone to beah heah heah eah eah ed"
