2 and a half hours in hot water (note previous thread) before pain has peaked, still hurts a bit now and im up to 4 hrs.
The b@$t@rd got me through the rubber of my booties on the top of me toe.
It must of been an freakin acrobat or some kind of ninja fish?
i got bitten in river by cobbler 5 years ago......continued sailing thinking it was not too bad.
10 mins later it got real bad.
ended up at R.P.H with foot in bucket of hot water for a couple of hours.
worst thing the doctor wanted to give me some type of vaccine....now don't get me started on that.
Ahhhh cobblers another of life little experiences
Up to 3 stings now.
Wheat heat packs are your friend as they are a lot easier to move around than a bucket.
Also
You can get little air activated heat packs from the chemist which fit in gloves, these also fit very nicely inside of boots if it's still hurting the next day
Last time I got done, had some pain killers and drank loads of scotch.
Can't really remember how long it hurt.
i think the hot water only relieves the pain, last year my 2 year old got stung by a bluebottle, the lifesavers sat us under a hot (hot as he could tolerate) shower in their clubhouse, if after 10 mins he was still hurting the would have tried ice, but the shower worked with the help of a ice cream.
I was told the hot water stimulates blood flow and dissipates the poison.
Ive used the same technique for a scorpion sting a few times
Two years ago I stepped on something in the water up north that went crunch and stuck me with something.
It didn't hurt much for about 10 minutes but then it started to hurt and got progressively worse.
I tried the hot water, which sort of worked a bit while my foot was in the water but that limited my movement a bit and wasn't at all stylish so I ditched it. ![]()
I eventually took a couple of Neurofen Plus, and within about half an hour the pain had mostly gone to the extent that I was up and mobile again.
I'm not sure if it was just coincidence. I will try it again next time it happens.
Or someone else can try it and report back.
