Environmentalists are furious at a proposal by the petroleum company Shell to start exploration drilling off one of Western Australia's most treasured reefs: Ningaloo Reef off the north-west coast.

Its already done.
Woodside has all the "Motorbike" wells up there. Vincent ,Enfield,Laverda etc. The FPSO Gnangurra? has been there for maybe 3 years.
and yet if it was some pox ridden turd crusted weed reef near melbourne or sydney they would be al over it.
no population = not enough voices to complain
and what are the greens doing?
to busy trying to organise gay rights for themselves.
Was there in October and as we sat on top of the hill at the light house having a beer and watching the sun-set, we counted in excess of 7 rigs on the horizon all with their flares burning away.
Is Shell just adding to the numbers.
At the end of the day, money talks and Shell has lots of it.
Damn shame if it gets the go ahead given the uniqueness of this brilliant place. Nothing is sacred.
Mind you "Exmouth-ians" have done well previously when it comes to protesting and succeeding with stopping large scale projects like the salt production that was going to go ahead in the gulf. Another reason that it may have stopped however was pressure from the fishing industry.
I dont think the tourism industry has the same degree of push though.
Well just think about it...... The red shedevil [}:)][}:)] of Canberra is pushing for the carbon tax so more oil more carbon more tax money. And in the wild west cowboy Barney Noball is trembling thinking he could upset shell (as he is trembling upseting Magellan lead) so..... nothing will happen!![]()

At least this one is reputed to be 50 k's off the reef and any spill (never happens just ask the $$$$ end of town[}:)]) will not drift into any sensitive area, according to a local mouth from Exmouth on radio this morning.
We can whinge, bitch, complain and what ever else, but there is now way its going to be stopped by the likes of average citizen.
Environmentalist furious
I presume that be the Greens then
same mob who think its real clever to want a tax on carbon that makes up 0.023% of atmospheric elements, under the guise that carbon is a pollutant.
On this topic, are all the fish dead at Cervantes just because the water is really warm? that's what everyone reckons anyway?
