Ok - I haven't seen tonight's episode, but the last two have been awful, and although I want to watch it I find myself sort of waiting with dread for tonight's episode...

I am a bit of a Top Gear (UK) fan and have seen all of the modern episodes - even those that have not yet aired in OZ ... I know it's scripted and that Clarkson can be a pratt, but the whole family will sit together and watch it and generally have a laugh. When TG OZ is on everyone just leaves the room... I wanted to like it, but after three seasons with three different anchors they still haven't got it anywhere near right...

The 'challenges' and fun bits are lame (WTF was the point of that souvalaki on a V8 last week?!) and 'Kenny' is just an awful and unfunny host...

Sadly, the yanks have nailed it (find the US version on channel BT) and even the UK's Fifth Gear is better...[}:)]

Sorry about the rant - but I must be close to the mark as Ch9 have already moved it to 9:30pm after only the first episode...

I wasn't expecting much and all my expectations have been met. There's no real passion for cars that the UK TG clearly show, seems more like a kids show.

Yeah the Aussie Top Gear lacks something. I watched a bit of it tonight and it was okay but nothing more.

I've started watching Wheeler Dealers and I find it a much more entertaining and relatable show than Top Gear.

Aussie Top gear always has been and always will be puss I'm sorry to say.

UK top gear which is a 40 show w/out adverts on commercial TV now runs @ 1-1/2 hrs is not even worth bothering with recording as they'll chop Ad's in mid sentence, which is a shame as I like TGUK.

Don't start me on channel 9 and Go's continuity of the series to try and hide the fact that they repeat the crap out of the episodes.

It was amazing and quite funny to read that Channel 9 was stumped as to why the ratings for TG uk had plummeted

I liked James Morrison, but I guess he's not in it any more?

Sometimes I wonder about TV channels and production companies and their program choices .... I was asked yesterday [as I do TV work] to attend a meeting for "An exciting new TV series" to go into pre-production.
It sounds great? ......ANOTHER home reno show!!

The only show we watch as a family now is Bondi Rescue around dinner time - my 6yo daughter is mad for it, and is starting to display traits of wanting to be a Surf Rescue or surf life saver. It's a good reality show, with real personalities, although I reckon there would be alot of editing!

Another one is iFish (and other fishing shows, if they're on at the same time we are all around the idiot box) the host gets a bit over the top, but I need my fix of fishing!

I had an idea of a series that would appeal to me and a few of my mates - 'GoPro around Aus' - basically 2 hosts (me as one, of course). A road trip around Aus having a crack at all outdoor activities & filming via sport camera. Prob is, the majority of the population wouldn't go for it, so it will stay a dream of mine!

Love UK top gear but the Aus one is just rubbish. Haven't watched it since last season where i think i only watched about 1/2 an episode.
Shame really. Lot of good Aussie cars i'd like to see get a thrashing...

Its gonnnnnnnnnnnnne - this just came out on the newswires

Officially it's parked but the Australian version of motoring show Top Gear is headed for the scrapheap.

Channel Nine has reportedly finally put the show out of its misery today after two years of lacklustre ratings and a cool reception by the critics. After originally attracting 1.5 million viewers last season the new series has dropped to around the 400,00 mark in the past two weeks.

Host Steve Pizzati confirmed the news this morning on his Twitter feed.

"It's true - as of next week, TGA will be on at the special time of not at all. Sorry to the open-minded people that gave it a go and enjoyed!" Pizzati tweeted.

"We're told the last three episodes will make an appearance in the summer. Or try Blockbuster Video in the BetaMax section."

Anyone who watched the first episode of this season could see that coming a mile away... how they managed to screw up such a successful formula is beyond comprehension... hosts play a big part, but even their 'test track' was poor - no good camera angles or anything.

UK top Gear is three well-educated, literate, middle class men making gags, playing the goat, being cheeky supported by generally excellent comedy writing.

Aus Top Gear was three untalented boofheads acting like bogans at a pool party.
