Is this for freaking real!!
If I was sitting next to this freak, I would have simply leaned over and said, "mate, don't worry about the $10, it's my shout, eat and drink as much as you like".
And;
Why the heck would you turn around anyway... just continue on the journey and arrest the dumb ass at the destination!
Sorry Simondo, lost concentration half way reading that article

This is funny, kind of... They didn't turn this plane around!
What an idiot. If he wanted a free sandwich he would have paid $400 more and flown with QANTAS.
Good luck in the mental health unit.
Why couldn't they have tied him up with big zip ties and just keep going to Perth. Major bummer for the other passengers.
oh your god; if you don't want to pay 10$ for a sandwich - don't have the sandwich - its that simple...................had to fly virgin last week Perth - Port Hedland (& return a few days later), they gave you sandwiches & a snack pack thing with bikkies, mints and a trail pack - then let you know there were other items available off the menu for a fee, no worries I'll take your freebies, I'm not that much of a cat funt that I can't go an hour or two without food. Can highly recommend the brookfarm trail snack bags - wifey will be stocking up on them next organic vegie/fruit shop visit.
The airline can't be too smart.
Either give him a free samwidge which probably cost them two dollars,
or turn the plane around and go back, which would have cost about $5,000.
I don't think they wil get him to reimburse them for the costs.
Just give him the samwidge and put him on the "don't fly" list.
It's old school to get free sandwiches on planes this method was introduced when passenger planes first got of the ground and company's wanted to get more people to experience flying......Qantas (who have ripped Aussies of for years) still remain to hand our this offer and that way keeping a lot of older loyal passengers....... Really is there not a hungry jacks/ McDonalds at every airport? The longest flight across oz is what 3.5 to 4 hours do we really expect to be fed for free in this short period for traditional purposes?
