Today Gnaraloo's environmental officer was talking about a a possibility of rainbow crabs which are predominantly rock dwellers could be interferring with turtle nests . If they were the nest would have to be close to the rocks and would be part of natural selection anyway . As for Ghost crabs they may interfere witn nests as the are very active in the summer months and are governed by barometric pressure and will travel inland up to 500m or so when the barometric pressure is below 985. I didn't catch the ladies name or where she obtained her degree in environmental science , if any body knows please put on the page or if she her self could clarify even better . Thx

HI Leprechaun, all details for contact regarding the Gnaraloo Turtle Conservation Program can be found on www,gnaraloo.com.au. The ladies name is Karen Hattingh and i am sure she would be delighted to hear from you as the research has established that crabs possibly do more damage then even the foxes.

Forum police will soon lock this one too.

They aren't so stupid not to notice you've started another thread.

I would have thought retarded surfers camping on the beach would do more potential damage than some crabs which are part of the habitat.

Mind you, if there is anything learnt out of all these posts is that a fist full of wetsuits is more effective than a snatch strap for getting some pill's and their 4 wheel drives of a no access beach.
