How awesome is the Ocean. Check out this beastie. 2 1/2 ft long.Recovered when an ROV (remotely operated vehicle) was recovered to surface.Definetly one of the coolest looking critters I'v seen.

nice,, its an amphipod,, lots of them down deep, usually more red in colour,,

A mate in Houston sent me the same photos the other. Said it came up on the ROV from the sea floor (approx. 8500 feet) while setting the X-tree from the West Sirius rig in GOM

That would be a big eater. I've seen heap of these sea lice before fishing for deep sea crabs - usually they're about the size of your hand though ...
