CAN EVERYBODY REMEMBER TO VOTE AGAINST DAYLIGHT SAVING ON MAY 16TH.
IT WILL BE A REALLY CLOSE VOTE.
THIS MORNING WAS STILL DARK AT 7AM. IF DAYLIGHT SAVING IS VOTED IN IT WILL BE DARK DURING SUMMER EVEN AFTER 7AM!!!!!
IMAGINE GETTING UP AT 6AM TO HAVE A SWIM BEFORE WORK AND HAVING TO WAIT OVER 1 HOUR BEFORE DAYLIGHT!!!!!
IF YOU LOVE COMMON SENSE VOTE AGAINST DAYLIGHT SAVING
CHEERS
Here's a hot top, swim after work? For a kiter/windsurfer I would think there are 2 scenarios to consider. a) is there wind at 6am. b) is there wind at 6pm. The answer in the summer months is predominantly b) hence anyone who likes getting a bit of water sports action in on a weekday would be mad to vote out daylight savings...no?
And i'm not sure what you're talking about RE if it gets voted in it will be dark after 7am. It's only a real problem in the morning at either end of the DST schedule when the days are getting shorter. In the middle of summer there is heaps of light at 6am DST.
Luckily here NSW we do not have this issue, and each year lately they seem to keep making DST longer...bonus ![]()
(F'd this up first post. Try again)
You must vote against. AS I've discussed previously going forward in time one hour has its issues, but what about coming back one hour for winter?
1) How are you going to handle there being two of you at the same time?
2) What if you forget to wind your clock backwards? Everybody will be an hour ahead of you. Who will you talk to?
3) Do you really want to watch the same show twice in a row?
4) What if you arrange to meet somebody at the same time designated to wind the clock back. When do you meet them?
5) Crime will be through the roof as everybody will have an alibi as they can be in two places for an "hour".
I don't think mother nature intended us to pervert time like this.
and the curtains will fade from that extra sun...
the animals without watches will be confused (they will miss footy training)
on the flip side all the sharks will be confused as to what time the high speed lures will turn up
good on you Sandgroper
WA has survived to become Australias number one revenue earner without DLS-let the other bankrupt states fit in with us.
I hate it-its a PITA. ADIOS DLS-its been nice knowing you -NOT!!
Im glad we had the trial though. At least no one can now say that "we havent given it a go" or we "dont know what we are missing"
question-why are there people from NSW etc commenting on this? why would they have any interest in it unless they are living here?
If thats the case go home if you dont like it. Just like we all say about foreign minorities trying to change Aus to suit themselves.
on a serious note... do any of you against day light savings partake in the activities that this forum accommodates?
DLS is pointless and is a total wasted effort.
The message has been quite clear in the three previous referendums - No
And hopefully the vote will be the same again...
I for one am all for it.
The light evenings mean more valuable family time
Nothing like a game of frisbee in the park at 8pm when it is still light.
