While we are all dicussing the attacks on our police force , I agree ,with all comments regarding this unbelievable verdict, they should be JAILED...
But I think the mandatory sentancing laws being put before parliment should include Attacks or act of violence towards ANYONE.. I think the police have a difficult job to do , especially with all the alcohol , and drug flooked idiots out there.... Send those who commit a violent act against anyone , to the can, stack them in 2s, 3s even 4 to a cell , we dont need these scum in our world, having worked in the prison system years ago , I have seen how good they get life in there.... Lets rack -em and stack-em in the can ,,..... we dont need them in our society.
I feel for those women and men whose partners work in the police force, waiting for them to come home safe must be hell.
Hypothetical situation... You're in a public place, almost no one else around, reasonably late at night. You look around and see a man physically abusing his girlfriend/partner.
Do you:
a) turn the other cheek
b) try to do your best to do something about it... you realise that this will more than likely mean that you may get hit yourself. Obviously it they do, your not going to cower in the corner, your probably going to hit the guy back. But wait, if you get your way that would mean prison.

most fights i see are kids just out of school because they are allowed to do it at school a young age they think they can get away with it

As we have come to learn from last weeks events , It is a fine line between Using force to hurt someone and self defence. And at which point do you cross the line in self defence??? Would you be allowd to hit back or just keep "blocking" if you were under attack?
We all have different judjements on when force is needed.
Im not sure Jail is the answer for EVERY violent offender. It costs US- the taxpayers.
Definatley jail for seriouse offenders .

In answer to your hypothetical question, the law states that you have a duty of care to provide assistance to anyone being attacked, or you beleive the situation to be life threating it also states that in providing that assistance should you injure anyone you could be charged with assult yourself,( if there are any eye witnesses,) dammed if you do dammed if you dont, what to do? dont know about you, but if i was to see some scumbag beating the crap out of a woman i would allow him the same feeling as he did her, the feeling of having a bigger animal hand out the same to him,from my experience most of these dipsticks that beat up girls are usually girls themselves. good luck deceiding what your going to do [}:)]
