For those that don't know if you come across full time employment, and decided to leave after the second week you MUST give a written warning to the employer after the first week of employment.
If you fail to do so and just give a verbal notice the company can with hold one week pay! For me it was $1250 after working 60 long hard hours!
And also centrelink will not want to know you for another 8 weeks as a penalty!
Anyone got a job for me?
Sorry to hear.
In general terms, you never want to leave on a verbal, one always should produce a 1-sentence, generic resignation letter.
Out of curio what was the reason for leaving so soon?
And how come 60 hours on a first week?
As far as I am aware, if you have worked the hours you are to be paid for them. If you work for an organisation for less than a year, then you are required to give at least a weeks notice. I'm sure if you pushed the issue to your former employer and said you were taking the to Fair Work, they'd be wasting a lot of their time explaining their actions.
Ok an up date. Fair work say I may have a case to recover my 130 hours from my ex employer even after I only gave a verbal resignation. But now i have to fill a complaint form which now I find I have to print, complete and send it snail mail to Adelaide before any further proceedings . What a joke why the hell do I need/have Internet in this modern day!
did u by any chance sign a contract with them? if not you could be classified as a casual employee and only have to give a verbal resignation. If you have not signed a contract with them to be under any formal award they will have to pay you what hours you worked, (just finished a module that covers some of this in my diploma of business).
No still no contract signed after 2 week in. Even the fair work mob could not give me a strait answer.
maybe you should of stayed another 2 weeks and f#$ked every thing you touched then they would have to give you notice ![]()
the down side of this is you end up with nicknames like dick fingers or life saver![]()
