Every now & then a post deserves a bit of PTake...Customised is more fun
I do not want to make a new ID to post under .. This trashes databases fairly quickly so...
I am looking for the option of creating an alias under main ID and flag this as active to use it.

I use alias' a lot for emailing so can trash when no longer serving a purpose.

An EG there is a post in general kiteboarding from CANDIDATE
A great one for a serve...
CANDIDA + photo
or
HANDI_DATE etc...

If there is enough interest - how about it Laurie?

When the internet didn't have web browsers, I used to use network news groups, which were posts onto a common forum. Back then people used to use their own real email addresses (this was before SPAM was common).

As a result you used to get genuine posts as people knew that they had to stand up for anything they said, and if someone started posting garbage you could block them out and not read what they said.

Later when news groups became more common, people started posting rubbish under multiple IDs and a lot of groups just fell into disuse because of lame postings and SPAM.

This ruined these news groups from what used to be useful into a waste of time.

The reason I bring this up is that I think encouraging multiple IDs is going to cause the same issue. It would probably also give the moderators 10 times the amount of work to do.

What you are suggesting might work if people controlled themselves, but there would be some people that would just go for broke and useful posts would disappear.

Sounds like a bad idea. Multiple accounts could encourage more irresponsible behaviour and drag the forums down.

I'm a member of another forum where you can change your forum name while still keeping the same account. If change is necessary, that would be a better idea and its perfectly inline with the real world where people can change their name if they want.

youd end up biting youself on the foot. sending a bad post under the wrong member name and getting slammed as the wrong one f your many personalites.
might be better off just taking your pills to keep the MPD under contol.
. Ive been caught out when wifey forgot to log out and I switched on and automatically posted under her member name, then she gets stuck in

On another site I administer we allow people to change their 'nickname' (display name) at will. It leads to some interesting nicknames

Their real name is still available for everyone to see though.

Surprisingly there is absolutely no trolling at all on there (touch wood). I'm not sure why, perhaps it's because a human has to validate a registration, you can't just register and post the same day.

Or perhaps it's 'cos there aren't any kiters on there [}:)] (Just kidding)
