Apologies if this has been discussed before, I have Googled, searched this site etc etc. Unless I am using the incorrect terms I can find no information on this subject to explain what I see.
I get up most mornings here on the Gold Coast before dark to get to the ocean, for the last 6-8 weeks approx we have had clear, cloudless days and warm weather.
The sunrise is about 6:15. My question is can anybody explain to me why every morning almost without fail there are no clouds in the sky except on the horizon of the ocean in the East?
We notice it because the sunrise and light we need to hit the water is delayed by about 20 mins as opposed to when it is not there. Each morning there is a band of clouds in the same position that then dissapears once the sun comes up.
I have read about the Morning Glory in the Gulf etc.
Can anybody fill me in? I am hanging to get an answer back to the boys at training.

Sounds like a fog out at sea. That's my guess anyway.
They may not even be clouds. The light bends at the horizon (like around the edge of any object) plus it is moist air that can be highlighted. Right out at sea you often see what you think are islands and you look at the chart and they don't exist.
All sorts of weird sh!t.
If they are clouds I have no idea
