My best mate is looking at getting married over on rotto later this year, has anyone organized this logistical nightmare before and had the reception at the pub?

Wedding planner experienced?

I tried talking him out of it but it where they met

I love Rotto but hate the cost, organise it through the pub or the restaurant on the beach called Aristos or may be to cool little cafe at Geordie Bay.

Have fun and pat a sting ray for me.

Looked into it two years ago. The only place that could hold the 80 ppl was the pub. In the long marque overlooking Thompsons. Deal breaker was the highest level of catering they could do for that many was "fancy BBQ".

Have a look at booking a charter boat for the wedding, that would be a cheeper and easier to organise option. I used to run charter boat business out of Hillary's and we would often do parties at Rotto. We only did one wedding though, the cerebrate wanted to get the ferry as he didn't want to stay the whole day. The boats I used to have held 50 people each out to Rotto, but we did a few parties we teed up with Mills charters and had a 3 boat raft up, we had a DJ and and about 160 people on the 3 boats.
The catering needs to be taken over on the boat and is limited to what can be heated up on a BBQ but some of the catering companies can make it look fantastic and may have a chef come with you, a better option than letting the deckie loose on the BBQ.

You will be looking at about $3000 per boat but between 50 people that is the same as the ferry costs and you can have the wedding and reception on the boat.
