... when a product costs half price to get it from the USA including postage- but wait for it - and the product is made in Australia.

Yes bigger market etc but seriously when it is made here, that is a sad sad state of affairs.

A face mask used for CPAP machines (for sleep apnoea). So it has a medical use and use is prescribed by medical professions, not a luxury product. I don't care if iPodpadtablets cost more here.
Further it can make workers much more productive and all sorts of other benefits.

So Australia makes the best product ad exports it to the world - yayy!!!
But somebody is screwing us and it has to be the distributor middle man...?

Basically $150 vs $300. That is disgusting mark up on moulded polycarbonate and silicone.

I bought my CPAP (Resmed S9Auto) from the states (had to go via friend with a US address as they wouldnt ship here direct).
Well over half the price...

Price here for just the machine and 1 mask was $2700
Bought the machine, 2 extra hoses, spare parts, 10 year supply of filters, 2 masks, delivered twice (to US then here) for just less than $1500.

No one here could explain the difference in pricing - and they had to order it in from... the US.

It's wrong, but it's not the norm. Challenge you to find more!

I do know, however, that for example fruit grown in northern Vic goes say 3hrs on a Coles/Woolies truck to Melb, is packed with a specific store truck, and goes back 3hrs on the same road to the Coles 5kms down the road from where it started. Ridiculous situation, but there's probably no other good option when you think about it...

Is when you go to your local Coles/Woolies/whatever servo to get petrol and there is quite a queue waiting for a bowser and people are cleaning their windscreens etc with the squeegee after they have paid. Fair enough, a quick clean is cool but think of others. get the **** out of the way for someone else to fill up. I had female Godzilla doing her thing this arvo and after asking her politely to move I copped "I f****** paid for petrol so I can take my time" I responded "fair enough but don't you think the right thing to do would be to move to the parking bays so others can get petrol?" Bucket arse then replied "I don't care, Im entitled"
Of course my diatribe on how most people these days subscribe to the "f*** you mate as long as Im OK" philosophy fell on deaf ears. Karma will be a giant Krispy Kreme donut stalking her forever.

Aw come on mate - you gotta support the local stores. Without them, you won't get product support and you're just sending money outside of the country.

here is another one, fireman climbs onto the roof of a house to put out a fire, last wed or Thursday
at Williamtown were the fires are raging. Some high ranking over weight waste of space comes over
& said u don't have your hight safty certificate, I suggest you go home naughty boy.
The said fireman can hang from a winch line out of a helicopter but no putting out fires on roofs.
This coutry is *ucked, only cause all the shepple put up with it, & there is not enough people
left now to change it.

^^^ That's a bit off-topic, but happens. I'm a Level-3 rope technician (vertical rescue), have working at heights ticket & various others - but I don't have my rooftop safety, so I can't repair a loose roof tile (SES) or cut a branch from a rooftop (I have a chainsaw ticket too)...but I can lead a vertical rescue team in a very dangerous situation and personally go over the edge of a 50m cliff to do a rescue (but no climbing on roofs...mmkay?!) - it makes me smile sometimes.

I used to go out of my way to support local stores and tourism... then I realised it just goes to prop up banks and ASTRONOMICALLY over priced property... now I'm like where ever it's cheaper.

I like The Good Guys and Office Works... cos they match any price on or off-line.

had a job last week ,to clean out some gutters. plan was ,up the ladder with the blower, walk around edge of flattish roof, 20mins, done.
HOWEVER. . being a large important corporation , 4 people had a safety meeting, worked out the details for the JSERA,typed it out and sent off to head office for countersigning.
It was then agreed that I could stand on the platform with handrail attached, and cleanout the gutters by hand, with appropriate gloves.
1 hr later paperwork all done I get out the blower and they realize it isnt mentioned on the paperwork, more signing and countersigning.
1.5hrs later I get to the last bit where I have to stand on a verandah roof to pull weeds from the last bit, but no-one in the regional office can approvea working on roof clearance. so we just left it clogged.
next rain all the cleaned gutters flowed into the left bit and backflowed into the office.
whole job was 1hr tops until the paperboys got their hands on it

What is wrong with Aust.???? Great place to live, only problem are the ones who whinge about living here. Not saying thats you Mr Aussie lol, talking in general.
Stressing and foruming crying dosent fix anything. Get out and enjoy the outdoors and what we HAVE and not focus on the piddely 3rd world little issues that complaining to others about wont do anything to help the problem anyway.
Winds been blowing nearly everyday for 3 weeks........ yeah, but what about the economic state of ad the price of meh,,, its windy more to life than worrying about things you personally cant change.
Enjoy the good things in life, its only short, not worth getting stressed out by things you cant do much about.

Unless you are willing, and lots of others, to go to work for $5 an hour like other country's populations that produce these goods do, not much you can do about it, so get out and enjoy the winds people.
