Any good for kiting ? (I like waves), are there mtb trails nearby ? skatepark ?
What's the town itself like ?
Thinking about moving there and want to weigh up the options....
it has bun in its name,so it has so many nice sounding options to me
ooh ooh and bury... bun and bury mmmm yum so many good things![]()
"Bunbury? He was quite *exploded*"![]()
I couldn't help it when I saw the title...
FYI for those who think I'm now insane, it's from the 'Importance of Being Earnest' where a Bunbury is used as an excuse for a person to get out of certain tasks or responsibilities . ![]()
Excellent mtb trails just 25 minutes out of town up the Ferguson Valley - at 'Pile Rd'. Spent two days down there on the bike last week - most notably, Griz's Trail down is an epic sweeper with some great berms and jumps/tabletops at the bottom. They have recently completed an excellent new up trail to complement it. There's a microbrewery just across the road from the bottom car park. ![]()
There is also a downhill at Wellington Mill (not much further up the valley) where the state titles are sometimes held. Haven't ridden that yet.
In fact Ferguson Valley is an undiscovered gem - sort of like uncrowded Margaret River. And the wines from there are really starting to make people notice now the vines are getting on (15 years plus for some).
I like Bunbury (although I have only ever visited briefly). It appears to be a noice, largish, country town. Its size means that it has most services, even pretentious food.
Not sure about the watersports side. But it can't be too bad, as its only an hour or so further on to Margaret River.
Thanks for the info Marvin mtb trails will help...found the local skatepark- that looks good too...what's the town itself like ?
I was there on Tuesday - have not been there for years. I was impressed with the size of the place and the fact that they had everything that you could want... the large shopping centre looks very new - yet again, had everything you could want.
I know that there is a surf break there - back beach perhaps. Not sure how reliable it is - but 'down south' is only another hour away and you have your choice of some of the best waves the state has to offer at Dunsborough / Yallingup / Margaret River.
Bunbury is a little under 2hrs from Perth on a very good freeway.
Suggest you come over for a look / holiday...
Cheers GPA, my partner and I are coming over for a flying visit for her to have a job interview on Tuesday....just won't have time for much of a look around so thought I'd put the feelers out.
Anyone know who the major Air Conditioning companies are there as well ?

Nah but My mum did used to do the CES job show back in the 80's for NBN in Newcastle, all my mates used to come over to perv on my mum, I should have charged a door fee, now thats Big Pimpin'! ;)
Spent some time there visiting relo's. Dont mind the joint. Easy to get there with the Forrest highway and Joes pizzas rule, have a go at the chilli dog. I got as high as the number8 and it had a kick to it.
Ok- so where should we be heading for dinner tonight in Bunbury ? Somewhere nice. And what is a good street or place to live ? Want to check out where to buy a place...
try the VAT or Cassellas on the waterfront ,or if after good pub grub the Parade hotel ,Sorry don't know much about where to live but have a look at Dalyelup just south of town
Unsure on Dalyellup - I think a lot of people bought blocks and built in there and then found out Homeswest (Govt housing) put quite a few in there. Few stories of "disappointment" from the nice people in there
Might just be anecdotal
but I'd check it out well.
There are some pretty crap areas around Bunno but I imagine the real estate agents will point loverboy in the right direction ![]()
Somewhere nice to eat? Monday night is the night off for a lot restraunts but LaMore de la Femme on the corner or Witenoom and Clifton street should be open and is very nice. Places to live... most would stay out of Carey park (scary park) I would agree, like most places the closer to the coast the better, binningup and peppermint grove beaches are a half hour commute to bunbury too, and in many cases more expensive than Marlston hill.
