Who makes your computer, be it PC, Mac, Android, Xbox... whatever you're using to read this, and what do you like about it?
My PC is a laptop made by HP; I like the Dreamcolor display and the finger print reader... it's kind of cool cos I just swipe my finger to login from boot (BIOS and Windows).
It weighs a lot though and in summer acts like a hot plate, in winter it keeps me warm.
I just bought a new system.
2GB OC graphics card with a full size monitor
256GB SSD with games n regular stuff on new i7 processor.
Goes like the wind.
There is nothing i dislike but i do like the speed, the quietness, and the FPS on all my games.
It is a computer and it is white, and has a screen.
I like it because it allows me to get a forecast (most important thing in the world) and read my emails (second) and then post here (third) and get some porno. Oh hang on, that may be first....
I don't care that it does not fit in my pocket and is not the latest - as I don't work in computing and don't feel the need to have the latest updates from my friends or the media every 10 secs (I have a life) and even better it cost me nothing. I don't feel the need to pull my pud over a bit faster or a spanky new graphics card or 100Gb per month blah blah .... cos it is a tool and it works. The same as my old hammer. I don't buy a new hammer every year or even every 5yrs.
I also don't have a $1000 knife set in my kitchen like Mr Jones the chef next door has.
Oh yeah - it has Winders and I like it cos it has Word - and "Word" sounds fkn hip.
Word.
I've just ordered a custom built joby along the lines of PRs' I don't game or anything like that but I do make my own nautical charts from recordings each time I go fishing. The files are big, and there are lots of them, so it was time. I'm looking forward to the SSD hard drive, and 10 on board USBs and the old parallel port to drive my old AO plotter.
I'll use my old monitor and keyboard etc. I just bought the desktop box, that I put under the desk![]()
^^ Mitshi makes a sh!tload of electronic stuff, granted, but no, not all car ECU's. Holden / GMH has been Delco for about ummm - forever.
Ferrari have their in house stuff. My point exactly. You don't know and you don't really care - cos the car ECU works.
For 90% of peeps who do seabreeze and steal some MP3's then download some porn why would they be "into" computers?
I seriously don't get it. Keeping up with the Joneses crap. Why do we have to keep up with the Joneses on home AV stuff and computers and a nice coffee machine ........... BUT NOT our car stereo, or the car ECU, or the fkn breadmaker?
Just wondering...?
I dont need to keep up with anyone.
I like computers, i know stuff about them and i want big performance so i can do stuff i like to do.
Its like some people put muddies on their 4x4 and lift it 3 inches so they can drive in different terrain. Well i put a 2gb OC graphics and SSD in my computer for the same reasons to make it compatible with what i do.
^^^^ you have a reason and that is cool :) I ponder the many that do not. BTW I wonder how you got a StoneSurfDesigns in your computer.
I suspect my 512K RAM may be insufficient now so I may upgrade and keep this PC for the kids doing educational stuff.
Can anyone tell me that I should NOT buy a Dell thingo that they deliver and charge me $18 p/w for?
Sitting here posting from my home lappy - Asus F3J (cheapy)...6yo machine running Vista & has never failed, it's still very speedy!
Work - Dell Precision M4500 & dock, 3yo & also still the bomb.
used to have a dell630. slow as fk but great warranty. drop it or scratch it whatever, guy comes to you next day and puts new parts on.
got a hp now. is ok but the serial port pins are flush with the case and they get bent.
got a dual cpu dell 690 desktop at home with win7 x64 and lots of ram (cant remember)
goes ok
From the thread title I thought this was going to be a thread about modern day slavery, mind control and the NWO.
I'd imagine workers in a Chinese factory assembled my computer out of parts made in China, South Korea, Thailand and a few other countries by machines and other workers.
I don't think the big companies as such make their computers, ie you won't find a Dell, HP, Apple or whatever factory that are making brand computers.
Build your own machine. Source parts from msy or newegg. You can put together a beast of a machine with all the fruit very cheap. Hp Dell apple etc are a rip off imo.
I like the idea of $16 p/w so I don't have to splash a couple of grand now and can use that for windsurfing gear ![]()
Is Dell OK if you just pay it off faster?
Intel Processor
Seagate HD (i think)
Fs me on the RAM.
...probably the same factory that made your computer but it has a different manufacturer's sticker on the front.
Not sure who actually made the sticker.
I have had lots of PCs & laptops over the years, some good, some bad, but the reoccurring theme were the junk operating systems, windows 95/98/Vista etc etc So I bought a 27" Mac! It's crashed twice in 2 years. And when I say crashed, it went into sleep mode suddenly. I have Windows 7 at work which is OK, but it's still buggy, freezes, crashes occasionally etc
