Wind farms - Warning

So where would you like the nuclear power plants to go then? or is it NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard)

I'm sure the people of ****ushima would prefer wind power.

The people of Pozo, Tariffa etc probably aren't aware they're endangering their lives either. Lucky there are 'think tanks' to inform them how they should be feeling.

I wish I could remember where I saw it but there was a great article a little while ago about how the health effects related to living near a wind farm are inversely proportional to the amount of monetary compensation residents receive.

latest research shown that noise produced by cars and traffic could have also adverse effect..
I suggest that this brave Waubra people will stand now against roads and remove all in 10 km radius from any home around.
But for that donated money they could purchase noise meter to measure noise level created by closest tree in vicinity in strong wing and compare to sound level when source is 10 km away.

I've lived under an airport flight path where everything on the shelves shook when planes went over and you had to wait for it to pass until continuing your conversation. bothered me for the first couple of days then, you get used to it.
I expect wind farms maybe different due to the constant nature of the noise, but if the wind is that strong, you wouldn't think you'd hear it unless you were right underneath them?

We have a few wind farms around here and you can hear them from a couple of hundred metres away, basically a loud 'swoosh' sound. The argument has gone from killing the OBPs - to the sound creating internal physical & mental health issues. I don't rule-out that they 'might' cause stress if someone close-by is a nervy person & lays awake listening for the sounds, which can lead to health problems, but I doubt that the wind turbines directly cause physical health issues. I have a mate who's full-time job is maintaining the turbine (climbed his 500th tower a couple of weeks ago) - healthy/fit, sleeps well & has none of the symptoms outlined in that link.

Every single wind turbine installation require again and again:
-funding whole research on effects on human health, animal protection
- consents and consultation, litigation
-" bribes" so called fees for "unhappy" farmers and other inhabitants
- public relation expenditure and advertising

Left to their own devices , wind turbine power could be very cost effective by material costs and technology, standardized installation.
Situation is similar to that in nuclear technology - where electricity produced is simply " to cheap to be metered" but somehow the most expensive.

Just wait for City Council to introduce "solar tax" since price of solar panels are already at dangerously low price - means people may run out of the tax on everything with their own free energy.
BTW prices for solar panel prices dropped below $1 per Watt or $1000 per 1 KW !
which means that 1 kWh cost you .....3 cents ( calculated for solar panel life time)

You could attach that small wind turbine on top of your Electric Vehicle - ie Mitsubishi -iMev and drive for free
The faster you go, more wind to turn your turbine and recharge your battery !

I have been thinking about attaching a solar panel to the back of my trousers to harness the energy available from the sun shining out of my own arse

better attach wind turbine to your arse to harness this smelly wind ( there is much more power in that that shine of your brilliance)
