Any of you techno guru's out there know of a free word processing download. I do not want anything fancy and do not want to pay for it. I was using Compare Office which cost me $149 but it came on cd and the el cheapo laptop I bought does not have a disc drive.

Thanks in advance!

Try "Open Office". Free from Sun. Requires Java Development Kit (JDK) to be loaded as well.

Wordpad -already installed with Windows (assuming you are running windows).

Basic but better than Notepad.

Start->Run & type "Wordpad"

hit enter

That's a text editor - a lot different.
Use Libre Office instead of OpenOffice. OO is way behind in bug fixes, whereas LO is OO with the bugs fixed in a timely manner. OO is controlled by Oracle Corp - tardy development. LO is a user supported fork - bleeding edge development.

Can't you just copy the disc onto a thumb drive on another compuda and plug that into your compuda?

USB DVd-rom drives are reasonably cheap if you wanted to use your existing disc and load it.

Open Office. Just as good as Office and works on PC & Mac.

Why not just type directly into Seabreeze forums and let the spelling and grammar Nazis do their thing ?

Free AND you don't have to do it yourself.

EDIT :

This post has been edited. The orignal version was :

It's grammar, and there should be no apostrophe in Nazis.

Why install one at all?

Google Docs is pretty good ... free!, just needs a browser
offers 5Gb of free storage

SkyDrive on www.live.com offers 25Gb of free storage and access to MS Office apps online
Word
Excel
etc.

Unless the Nazis own something, ie: its the nazis' gun, let them play.

Nazi is a capital noun and should therefore be spelled with a capital N.

That all depends on how many Nazis we're talking about.
Also, in the above context, "its" should have an apostrophe and it should also begin with a capital "I".
"ie: It's the (one) nazi's gun, let them play."
"ie: It's the (several) nazis' gun, let them play."
