i figured enlightenment to your question could be found in the qld graphs where we have an abundance of "0"

some scrutiny has revealed that in fact the arrow points away from the origin

If it is 0 knots it is not wind - merely tranquil atmosphere - the Zen state.

Just think of the arrows: they let the birds perch and fly, with no intention to call them when they come and no longing for their return when they fly away. If people's hearts can be like the arrows, they will not be off the Way.

If there is never any wind, does the arrow understand the concept of "direction" - or is that just a human construct?

Hey, that's true isn't it? How many times do you not bother going down there because the arrows don't look good, and someone else goes down and says it turned out prettey good.?
The reverse applies too. The arrows look good so you go down and its crap!
