We just bought a second hand Caper Cat 14, the last owner was overseas and we are having difficulty setting up the rigging and standing the mast. does anyone know how we can get a manual or info on the cat?

connect the side stays,
stick bottom end of mast in gooseneck thingy on the transome so mast is pointing towards back of boat.
have one person lift mast from top bit and walk towards front bit of boat.
after it gets over 45 deg other person pulls on front stay.
once mast is verticle connect front stay to cross wire things connected to nose of hulls.
oh, forgot, make sure you get your halyards working before errecting mast and put a float on the top. 
edit** one more thing, don't forget to attach a wrighting rope under the tramps and wear you life jacket. better take some flares also.

They should be able to provide manual as they are the manufacturer
get the hulls weighed some people fill them with resin
after the wear strip is worn away by beaching and reefing,
they then sail like bricks, other that that they are a really
great fun boat even in good surf conditions and open water,
regattas etc.
I think only the later Capers may have had a swing-up mast step. The earlier boats were just a pin in the mast base-plate. You were expected attach the stays loosely and lift the mast up vertically to pop the pin down into a socket on the front cross-beam. It was a nasty arrangement that always caused a lot of grief. I hated it. Hopefully you have the later arrangement. As a previous poster noted to can try to contact calypso themselves for info.

We did raise the mast with the side stays attached and got the mast up, the problem we had was that the side stays were too loose, or too tight, depending on where we attached them on the mast.
Q. How much tension is on the side stays before you attach the stay at the front of the mast. there was about 12 inch's before we could get it to the cross wire at the front.

LOL. Too funny. We have sailed before, we had a 24" bay sailor. We just have not had to muck around putting the mast up and down like on the cat.
Calypso are sending us a rigging diagram, so this weekend we can play.
