Not mentioning any details or names but does anyone have an opinion on whether they would be slightly peeved if they thought they had a deal to purchase a secondhand board (off buy & sell) but the owner had to go O/S for a week and would provide a/c details for payment and sort out courier details on his return, only to receive email informing me that board was sold by his mate whilst he was away.
My last series of emails went along the lines of
Me: " thanks for additional photos -scratches are minor but still keen to purchase for $x - can you confirm how payment to be made"
Seller: "am going O/S for week so can we sort out on my return"
Me:"Not a problem at all - have a safe trip"
I suppose easy come easy go. Just needed to get it off chest.
Yep deal is yours 100%, he has to make good on his agreement as per emails.
Waste of time pushing it,as it will get ugly.
But you could be a bit of a mongrel and make him sweat it a bit. [}:)]Next time he will say , "sorry its off the market", changed my mind.![]()
Not worth loosing a moment's sleep about it.
Thunk more about that leaving your brass free to buy a better board
Don't worry about it, wait till you go to sell your house and it falls through three time before the cooloing off period ends, or they can't get finance and the finance clause applies,
Ive come to believe the world is full of people who say they are going to do something but it is only a few that actually follow through,
It sux but I decided to get used it, It will only affect my blood pressure if I get pissed off, the other party usually don't give a toss.
I can understand people changing their minds about small things
As at the time they thought it was good, but now something has changed for them or a rethink priorities etc
Sausage - sounds like you had a word of mouth contract (but not worth pushing, sucks that it was your ideal board but)
Wormy, as for your house, thats a bloody big thing for someone to change their mind about!
Hope you find a new board sausage (I was gunna shorten that to snag, but then that comes with weird connotations now - see 'Aussie blokes thread' haha)
Its not just you and me either, happened to my mother recently and stressed her out major, 3 times wanting an extension on the contract, holding up the sale so no one else could buy it,
My tip. Never extend a contract, tell em to get the money and come back but in the meantime its on the market.
id be fatalistic about it, "it must have been full of water", "it would have been snapped during transport", "you would have been run down by a kiter and injured while using it" etc etc etc etc.
Sausage, what was the ideal board you had your eye on?
We are scattered all over Australia and one of us may be able to put you onto the same board at an even better price!
A gentlemans agreement is face to face with a hand shake anthing else should not be taken seriously...No satalite agreement is best.
Australia (was) renouned for the "hand shake" and a mans word was "his bond". The old boys would be turning in their graves to see what this country has become.
The deal was yours mate, no question.
Unfortunately these days we have to get used to this type of sh#t.
Hope you find a better one at a better price.
