A mate thought he would take some footage of the snapper while the kids went for a surf. It looks like he was closer to the beach than the kids when he started recording.

That's awesome (and freaky!)

What a beautiful creature, although my adrenalin would be rocketing and I'd be calling out to the kids to "GET OUT OF THE FECKIN WATER!!!"

Amazing how such a big shark merges into the water after a short distance. Very scary. This video should get many hits on You Tube.

Thats why I don't wear polaroid sunnies when I'm up there.

One thing to remember is this time of year the turles have all but finished hatching so the tigers are still around patroling looking for easy feeds on hatchings.

When the adult female turles come in to lay eggs in Dec/Jan its even worse as the female turtles get back in the water totally exhausted and just float around and get smashed by the tiger sharks. i have seen this at very close range. very cool to watch from dry land.
