The boss has decided she wants to go to Hawaii in the January holidays so we've booked 10 days on Oahu. Looks like theres enough to see, do and experience (our style of holiday) but we are weighing up taking a day trip (overnighter??) to another island if its worth it? Flights are cheap and quick.

Appears to be plenty of pro's and very few cons to all the islands but are there any standouts anyones been to? There will be us & her parents so ideally something that will keep us all happy.

Do an over nighter to the big island, and go for a 4WD & walk to get right up close to the hot lava on the south side of the island.

Been to Maui a few times, plenty to do and see there too, drive up volcano, swim with turtles, surf Honolua, Jaws (hahaha- maybe watch Jaws)
Drive a convertable down to Hana and back,
Sail Ho'okipa, surf the north shore at Kanaha,
So much to do in Maui, good shopping there too (although better in Oahu)

Were every you are booked into ..you will find at the front desk...a gazillion broachers of fly and drive....
driving in Ohau is a tad peak hour...
but get over it and drive everywhere.

Island hop.....don't miss out on the Big Islands diverse scenery

or Molokai's remoteness
www.gohawaii.com/islands/molokai/things-to-do/land-activities/historic-places

and you have to have a couple of helicopter flights over the most amazing gorge scenery of Kauai
and leave some extra time on Kauai for getting to places as it might only be 50k's away but 50k's there can take 2 hours

Goodness is there room in your suitcase for me

I spent a few days in Honolulu on Oahu, was a nice place, good to relax on the beach and lay around, went to the zoo and an aquarium style place but 3days was heaps in that spot.
Little bored actually so I would suggest maybe even doing two trips to a couple of the other islands. Wish we had of. But that may have just been our experience there. Weren't really looking for things to do as we were thawing out after months in the snow.
