gday all just a been try,n to find hmas adroit scuttled southwest of rotto 1994,done a lot of trips out that way but all the history dos,nt take you to reported depth, any naval historian,s out there?????????????????????????
There is a more comprehensive list then thy one offered by Chris. I won't have access to it for the next 5 weeks as I'm away, but I did get it off the net so just keep searching. I can't be exactly sure (or even if the vessel your after is listed but i'ld be surprised if its not), that it includes lat and longs as well as approx depth.
According to WWW it was sunk as a target west of Rottnest Island.
If this is the case the Navy/Airforce would be training in the WAXA (Western Australia Exercise Area)
My guess is that it's off the continental shelf
Have a look on fishwrecked as they have (had?) a thread with the locations of heaps of things (inc the adroit) that have been sunk out near the trench in 100m - 200m (and then some) but alot of people seem to focus on the sea containers and derwent.
Hapuka / grey band territory ![]()
PS if you are going to fish 150m+ use circle hooks and not mulies.. it sounds obvious but not for some!
Maritime archeology database (on the interweb) says its 2500m down, which I would wager is off the shelf. doesn't have to be too far off rotto to be of the shelf, it's pretty close to the back of the island from memory....
According to a dodgy pdf that i downloaded on my phone, it makes mention of the derwent being sunk nearby the adriot (near all the other boats as well) so not sure on the depth? I think the deepest fad is in about 200m and thats around 26 miles out from memory.
The last time i was out there a bloke was snorkelling lol
