Hi all ,new to this site.Love surfing but getting older and not out as often.Watched some sup riders and it kind of reminds me of when i used to waveski, along time ago.The use of the paddle is almost identicle. With average ability on a surf board and better than average on a ski,is this the sport for me at nearly 45 years old?
No , Get fitter , buy a slightly bigger board , paddle harder!
stay at it , it gets easier, Fl,,k the sup ,![]()

Um - I'm 45yo and still surf - plenty of blokes on here in their mid 50's and a couple of 60yo's...
Age is not the reason to take up SUP (666 in the surfing threads
).
Perhaps try a longer/wider/thicker surfboard that will give you a bit more paddle benefit to keep your wave count up. That's what I have done as the fitness decreases and the weight creeps up...![]()
But at the end of the day, if SUP appeals post this question in the SUP thread and no doubt you'll get some good advice.
All the best and welcome to the 'Breeze!
Fk mate at 45 you have years left in you before you lose your licence.
I know many 50 year old shortboarders who still charge.Never too old.
