Its a huge joke! The only winners are the AFL (get to sell more tickets), Channel 7 (get to show it again) and the betting agencies.

Very disappointing

totally agree with you!! they should keep it simple and stop confusing the players, umpires and supporters, watch any game from the 90's and the rules were easy to follow compared to the crap today.

Draws are like kissing your sister. Every player looked like they didn't know how they should feel after it.

Loved the game - hopefully they get to the same standard next week. At a minimum not over till the mid-last quarter!!

U can complain about a few ump's decisions as usual but for all the non-dyed in the wool pies / saints supporters - regardless it was top billing...

Imagine the Cats / Pies roll-over last week in today's game - a shocker..

So Ross or Malthouse for the tactical trump card 4 next week?

Do they suspend suspensions/reporting?? A knee on head?? A head/kneck removal tackle trying to stop a mark (money & drama v's the rules)??

IT WAS ALL A SETUP. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE MONEY PEOPLE.
Both teams were told to make sure it was a tied game so the sponsers get twice the publicity, channel 10 get to charge a huge amount for adds durring the broadcast AGAIN, and huge profit from ticket sales AGAIN.

All the teams are just payed actors,,,
its all a well reherssed stage show done for huge amounts of money.
Its gotta have something to do with the FBI or aliens I tells ya,

Will they still have the pre game hype,tv coverage from 9am,pre game entertainment or will the build up be treated like any other game and both teams just run out to battle.

will "Weddings, Parties, Anything" have to do another annual gig on the grandfinal eve?
To use an old footy slogan - "i'd like to see that!"

All this talk of extra time or replay is dumb.

It is not like soccer where a goal is a goal.....there are goals, and points unlike some other games.

So if a draw, why not just look at who kicked more accurately?

Change the rules so if it is a draw, the one with more goals wins.

Collingwood - 9g 14pts
St Kilda - 10g 8pts

St Kilda wins. No replays, no hand wringing about what to do. Easy.

That score could also be interpreted as collingwood dominating by 6 scoring chances.

I like the idea of a replay. in a cynical way.

^Or instead of that, they could have a punch out. The two captains stand facing each other, and take turns punching each other in the face until one falls down. Whoever is standing wins

After listening to all the so called experts and a bit of discussion over a few froffy's with mates, a golden goal was the best outcome, but that has to be the following week if its a draw again. Just imagine the teams fighting it out till someone gets a goal. The pressure the intensity the struggle. No break to.
Would it be the return of Pagans paddock?
Anyhow the game was f@#ckin awesome and i'm not a fan of both teams or any victorian side to.

I'm finding the **** the AFL is copping funny.....considering this rule has been in since the dawn of VFL...there was no sooking back then there was emphasis on financial gain...hardly the AFL's or demi's fault...

I only feel for the all the poor blokes who would have worked hard to have their weddings scheduled around the GF (ie the week after the real GF) thinking it would be a safe bet, only to have the replay on their day...

I dont understand why everyones complaining, its tradition, its really funny. and Its now a week long half time break.. Also teh NRL GF wont get centre stage.

now $20 bucks on the saints to win my money back

collingwood will lead by five points for most of the last 1/4, and with 5 seconds to go the saints will kick a goal.

and they stuffed up all 6 extra chances. Possessions and inside 50m is fine, and kicking a point is OK, but you have to score goals.

STK got more goals, they won.

(BTW I am not a fan of either team, or AFL)

other side of coin again: a point is not a point!!!
points conversion doesn't always indicate bad kicking. High points can also be the result of poor defense and desperation by a team knowing it is in trouble. eg:
Stk conceeded points by knocking it through the opposition GOAL themselves, (weak), whereas Collingwood put on the breaks and gained possession in defence thereby out performing them (strong). Awarding a premiership on this basis would be punishing the poor old forgotten defenders, who have the second hardest job in the game.

Maybe if genuine points were separated from rushed behinds.
Then it gets more and more ridiculous...... no easy answer.

........just puttin it out there, and not a supporter of either team. I just like where this discussion is going.

This has been discussed all around the country by now.

I can't go with golden goal. Have had hockey finals lost and won on that premis and it feels empty win or lose.

I'm kind of in favour of a draw. end of story, although there needs to be a rematch first.
