Our thoughts go to the family and Moto GP community. It has been a horrible week in motorsportwith the passing of Dan Wheldon at Indy Las Vegas last sunday

Big hair, bigger personality and he just seemed to love life. Gut wrenching news.

Saddened and shocked to hear of his death. A freak accident - feel sorry for Colin Edwards.

So young and so much talent.
RIP Marco.

Why was Marco hanging of the side of his bike, just before the accident?
How did he lose his line?

His father said in a press release he would have wanted to pick the bike up after the slip and finish the race.

One thing with all his hair, was the helmet a good fit,I'm sure it was but it just came to mind.

I watched it live on ONE HD as I aways do and I can assure you that the helmet fit or hair had nothing to do with it. His helmet took the full force of the Ducatti, he never had a chance. I"ve seen every 500cc - Moto GP race since 1988 and I've never seen a rider loose the front, Push it back up and have the grip to make it fling across the track like that, Ever. The circumstances of that crash were made possible by the phenomenal grip of the tyres these days.

I must admit I thought the hair thing was the problem but after watching the replay a couple of time you can clearly see the Duke hitting the helmet
As soon as I saw it I thought he was dead straight away and the commentators were talking like he was but not saying it.

I remember Doohan at Phillip Island when he was leading by miles and low sided loosing the front and he almost saved it. I have watched 500s and Moto GP for ages as well and I have never seen a bike do that!!

Not much to say other than it was a racing accident R.I.P. Marco you will be sadly missed

For the last decade its been what is rossie going to do, and this decade was shaping up to what will simoncelli do. he was what raceing is all about, fearless, aggressive, skillful, IMO.

Hi Gwendy, the grip combined with the amazing talent to get it back to a position where it would grip back up!!!

No worries Doggie, check out the overtake around the outside at the 1:00m mark!!!

He alway's had Lorenzo rattled because he was so good and always pushing to the limit, and usually finding it.

I have so much respect for these guys and what they do and how easy they make it look.

Yes with you 100% on that.
Hey Doggie, Did you notice that after the start, Marco and Bautista were racing really hard. When the crash happened the vision was from Bautista's on board camera and it looked to me as if Bautistas Suzuki was closing on marco's honda when he lost the front. Just thought that was a bit strange. What do you think on the replay.
