Now all you watery and windy peoples of the Sydney Area, whom a father can put trust in.
My daughter just got into Sydney to continue her uni degree. She comes from far outback.
She holds ambulance and swimming accreditation, pool manager life guard, is healthy and a good sport, hockey. She has some sailing experience.
Beside the obvious yobbo answers, what could she become involved in as recreational time for low cash outlay ? keep it clean.

mabe if she likes sailing she could put her name down at a yacht club as a deckhand.

walking, jogging, netball, volleyball, basketball 'tonsil hockey' ,swimming, list is endless i guess

i think she is have to going to make that decision on what activitys and sports she likes to participate in herself....

j murray,
Im with you. I think the best thing your youngun could do is join a surf club.
Great community spirit, fitness and a great thing to be doing!!
Every beach in Sydney has a club and most have an outlet to a surfing association which further enhances the community spirit.
And like Busterwa said there are so many sailing clubs in Sydney that Im sure she would be in good hands.
Hope it all goes well for ya!!!1

can crew on racing yachts for free - go down to the yacht club on the social race night (wed?) with a freind before the race starts and let the barmaid know yr interested. As a plus theyr'e usually well heeled gentlemen. good thing to get into...can end up at hamilton island race week/ coastal race weekends/ syd-hobart etc. good social activity.

Are you really a doctor?
Dude that's scary.
Pervert Dr who wish he was female pole dancer .

I'm a little confused;
1) I want to give you a thumb down because "J" asked to keep it clean and you didn't.
2) I want to give you a thumb up cause you are the only one who keeps this forum fun.

I'm too dumb to decide so ... nothing

I'll be encouraging my daughter (currently 15) to take up cattle crutching or tae kwan do.

Mr J. I am a 25 year old male on the north side of sydney and have a love for cycling, abseiling, archery and windsurfing. There are various mixed netball teams around and all sorts of things. If it is of interest my girlfriend and I would gladly take her out for some sight seeing and an introduction to sydney from someone who grew up here.

Also i used to race dinghy's and my cousins still do and could get her out on a boat at manly without too many troubles and only for the price of a wetsuit for her.

If your both keen shoot me a pm or something.

I'm from hornsby by the way. Where abouts in sydney is she staying?

Hi All,
Some of you have been very helpful, others, full-o-crap, quite expected really. She is aware of this forum, we have no secrets, . after monitoring the good suggestions, and giggling at the rubbish, as most young people of moderate intelligence would do
Even then she would make up her own mind ..... taking up exactly whatever she likes, as she always has done . Most dads are not groovy enough to take much notice of. But we mean well ......
Don't stop with the good ideas, some organizational addys may be a great help .
I did expect to trawl up a lot more Sydney-centric going ons
Since the pulling of uni, union fees, much of what was financed and therefore achievable financially has been lost to our youngster's ....... shame really !!!!!

What uni is she going to? The University of NSW has an active windsurfing club with plenty of donated gear.

thanks mobyd... i am not at liberty to say she has the ability to read all this and make choices . I would hate to make her and of her dear old dad, i am dealing with a truly modern young lady, very independant and capable

Thanks, Peoples.
A decision has been made, the dear daughter could be coming to the water near you soon. You have all been a great help .
This Forum could now be closed down, but before we all go....I wonder How many Sydharbours of knowledge are contained within these forums

reminds me of an old line [fishing] ....and they seemed as full of knowledge as a forty acre college !!!
