Just kidding. The raw cross rate is 1.07 you should come out ahead even after fees.

By far the best way to move it is to first send it to Nigeria for conversion into Nigerian Naira's. After that transaction they will be able to offer you an excellent rate for them to send it onto to you in Canada. Once in Canada, open up a local bank account, and they should be able to deposit roughly 3 to 5 times the amount that you started with.

I can convert AUD$10,000 to 50 Million Indonesia Rupiah. That should set you up.

he he he... as soon as I read the first post, I was thinking just transfer it to a local holding account in my name, where I can then transfer it safely to NFA

I don't "move" it, rather just withdraw as required at local atm. Bank doesn't charge too much in fees. You just cop the floating exchange rate.

Looks like a slight win on the Exchange Rate, and a slight win on food prices.

You can actually survive quite well OS with an Aus Bank Account. Online banking, Visa Card, etc. I found that if you withdraw the Maximum Limit through an OS ATM, it goes a long way, with only minimal transaction fees. Visa Cards aren't that bad with International Fees either.

Failing that, you just do an International Money Transfer for about $30, into a Canadian Account, if you have one. Have you made an inquiry with your bank?

Exactly. You can probably get $500-$750 Canadian for about $4 in fees. That is a better deal than the Spot Cash Rate.

Depending on how much you are transfering. I haven't done it in a while
but from what I remember the rate you see on the news or generally advetised is never what the banks will give you, I guess so they make a buck out of it for themselves. It used to be if you were exchanging over $25K you would get a call from the bank when the transaction was taking place and were offered the "real" rate, it was updated every 30 seconds or so.

The best possibly is transfer using Forex account.
Then you can choose your our exchange rate, possibly even double investment if you have a spare week and a bit of lucky
But if you don't have any experience in trading currencies , forget it
If that is serious amount possibly you need also look at law re money laundering in both countries.
