Any one got one? how do you rate them?
I know these things are expensivie, but thanks to the missus working full time i'm the housebitch and with two kids there is nothing worse than cleaning the floor only to have to do it again the next day
Mine is a Roomba brand (more expensive than the e-bay ones). It's very effective on timber floors and carpets - we run it every day, and only every have to vacuum manually about once a month.
It struggles a bit with the layout of our house, and often can't find it's way back to the dock, but we just carry it back when we get home.
It's capabilities to drive over/around things is amazing - I can't see why NASA wouldn't use it as a MARS probe it's that good.
Check the height of the unit vs you furniture though - ours just misses out on getting under the couch, which is a shame.
We have the language set to french, so I can say I have a french maid 
I haven't got a robot so I don't need to clean it.
But if I did I probably would just use a cloth, a vacuum may scare it and it goes on a rampage like in i,Robot
Cats love em... automated attack platform. 
Also I heard a horror story involving a dog, severe diarrhea and 6 hours worth of roomba tracks covering every room. Something to be wary of. 
our roomba (530 model) is great. One of the best things we bought. I hate vacuuming. We turn it on about 2-3 times a week and it's pretty amazing how much stuff it picks up. As we are in a new house we don't have much furniture so doesn't seem to get stuck often. It does however manage to lock itself in a room by going behind the door and pushing it closed. Just need to be careful of power cords and it can sometimes get stuck on them.
I've got the lg roboking. Best thing ever.
We use it everyday as we have a golden retriever and a cat, it picks there hair and heaps of dust.
Don't buy the el'cheapos waste of time.
Harvey Norman priced match ours from an online site(they don't normally do it) $849 down to $629.
If you can afford it buy the one with a camera. Ours will redock when the battery's low and then go back to where it was last to finish off the cleaning.
The cheap ones just work in a random pattern so could end up cleaning one room over and over
We still vacum once a month as I don't think it sucks out sand from deep in the carpet but for day to day cleaning are floors have never looked better
I was thinking the kid needs help, up until he said he had a vacuum worth $10,000 that he picked up for a buck.
Actually, he still needs help, good professional psychiatric help. Or else he may end up making someone a lovely wife one day.
