I for one would like to wish our queen a very happy birthday.

And thank my lucky stars that i was born here and not in some other crap hole of a country surounded buy death and destruction every waking moment.

you may be able to tell from that rant that I watched the ABC news tonight .

We are so lucky to live here in such freedom and good fortune.

" God save our gracious Queen , long live our noble Queen, God save our Queen.

Hey Doc -

what is a better form of government than a Westminster style constitutional monarcy ?

(and don't give some theoretical namby pamby answer - I want a system that has worked in practice, in real life, in this cruel world in which man kills man and the survival of the fittest has determined who we are and where we are)

(by the way maybe the early republics in Rome - the ones in the style of Romulus and Remus - were better, but they didn't last as long as the westminster consitutional monarcy so if you name them you got to explain why they failed and why if they were a good system the community didn't ensure they survived)

Come on Doc - 'compare and contrast' like you used to in school

It's good that you feel lucky, and you should - Australia is simply the best place in the world to live in. No argument with the British system, which is as good as many other such in civilised, well-off countries.

However the direct link between with the Queen and royalty and your good fortune is a stretch.
There are a lot of countries that are free and doing very well thank you, without the inbreds having helped.

And there are places in the world where the UK has made a pretty good mess - India and its break-up as a starter.

In the course of history, some countries ended up doing well, others not.
