Hi all - I just love this forum and its got me completely besotted. I've learn't so much about my firstlove - windsurfing - and then it got me into SUPing - which is almost beyond words fun.

But before this one it was www.coffeesnobs.com.au - where I learnt all about roasting coffee at home and got help renovating an old $200 single group La Cimbali espresso machine. I can highly recommend it as the source for all things coffee in Australia.

I'd be interested to hear of other people's other passions - and maybe the associated forum that is the mine of information for that?

Each to their own I suppose!

I found forum.backyardpoultry.com a great source of information about my dear girls - gorgeous svelte beauties that they are - being partridge wyandotte bantams.

www.reddit.com

The comments/forum for each link are usually better than the link itself.

Today's hot topic for the /australia sub forum:

Here is a young lass trying to decide whether she should crumb, fillet or fry a lovely tender breast now.

Mouth watering..

For my money, coffee is gourmet mud sold by pretentius knobs in pathetic little caps to poncy try-hard foodies who are soooo keen on the deluxe flavour they drink it from melting plastic cups with the lid left on!? WTF!? Did you ever drink a really good red wine from the bottle? No your snoz helps taste enourmously. Over-hyped caffeine junky twits.

Sigh.. time for a cuppa tea..

We loved boobies!! At least we can all suck on that.

nah. it costs bugger all if you roast it at home (like 10 cents a cup) and because its fresh it tastes 20 times as good as most of the muck you get served up by ignorant knobs who wouldn't know how to cook an effin egg but then again some people wouldn't recognise the difference cos their tastebuds are up their ear and they just peg out on any ol rubbish and barf and get wasted and do some more and just go for it without thinking and keep rantin on cos its the only way and why would you wanna know anyway FIFO

I once drank a 73 Krystal from the bottle. Warm. On our wedding night. No ****.

Don't ask.

edit: actually do ask, or more like I'll ask you.

So, it is out wedding reception. All is fantastic, excellent food, drink, party. As I"m leaving with the lat of the guests management pulls me over.

" Ah sir, we found this bottle behind one of the pot plants. Someone has stolen it from behind the bar and unsuccessfully tried to open it" (the cork was ripped off, but still in the bottle)

"Ah, no problem. I need a bottle of champers anyway. How much will it be?"

"$900"

"The F***?!!! What is it? Can't you just put it back in the bar? OK, WHO STOLE THIS?"

Anyway somebody else ended up paying for it, not the guy who stole it, unsuccessfully I might add. Guy who stole it has to this day not apologised.

People are asking me to forgive him.

Yay or Nay? (Nay, he's a dick anyway)

Oh yeah, guy who bought it brought it to us as is, half full/empty, warm. Still tasted pretty good.

takes me 5 - 10 mins once a week to roast 400 grams of primo coffee in my "Coretto" (named after the coffeesnob who invented the heatgun and breadmaker method I use). the green beans for this cost around $4 and this quantity is good for around 30 cups of coffee. that's coffee worth nearly $100 or more at your local cafe - and 9 times out of 10 mine's way better (leaving aside the coffee from the great cafes here in Perth - Epic, Tiger Tiger, Velvet etc)....

"Oh so the hot waater doesn't burn the coffee dahhhling"

Wasn't the stuff f'ing roasted before it got here? Can't see 100deg C water hurting it too much

i havent tried it.... but i met a couple travelling between islands in indo last year that had some, it comes out off the bum of an animal called a Kopi Luwak, Kopi is indo for coffee and Luwak (looks a bit like a possom), locals call it a Asian Palm Civet, they said that it picks out the ripest beans (red ones i think),it ferments them in their stomach acids
and it cant digest them so it poops the bean on the ground in the jungle and the locals collect them.....they said it was the rarest coffee in the world?..... oh yea and its only lightly roasted.......

Ahh yes those sweet mamary mouthfuls that come in pairs in case you get bored of one and fancy a change.

Surely they were the real inspiration behind the theory that the Earth was not flat? Who would bother to sail into oblivion for a measley A cup..

WTF was thread about anyway??
