surprised i dont see many sailors wearing hat protection.
the ageing effect of the sun alone should be enough.
i am sure windsurfing without a hat also causes damage/ageing of eyes.
the glare/reflection of water is a doubling effect of sun exposure on eyes/skin.
whenever my hat has blown off i have trouble seeing where i am going esp late afternoon.
getting cancers cut out later in life from face/neck could be a price some will pay for there carefree attitude.
in football, you dont wear shinpads, well your almost asking for it.
I think you would be surprised how many sailors wear hats these days. Most of the guys I sail with wear them and sunnies are becoming more and more popular.
Ive already had pterygiums cut off both eyes and skin cancers cut off and zapped.
I also guess it might have something to do with how much hair you have![]()
Most of the big surf wear companies make version these days, well worth it.
I mean, if Mr Lockwood wears one they must be fast![]()
Saw something a bit .. different .. today. A kiter with what looked like a lycra balaclava, and ski goggles.
