Nothing beats of a bit of over-hyped nonsense to get the television audience share up.

Brilliant kite flying technique to be able to get your kite draped over the top of a 10+ story building and not even smudge your makeup...

"Freshwater Beach" is actually Collaroy/Narrabeen NSW.

wtf -
this is the most defamatory thing i have seen on tv and this does nothing for the publics opinion of our sport
From an industry point of view this is bad for business, when kids say to thier parents they want to try kitesurfing parents seeing this now have this **** as their impression to the safety of our sport

Who was the kiter that agreed to be involved in this rubbish ??????? lets see who owns up to this

On top of all this this show is complete rubbish, their technical rescue skills aren't even sound.

ASKA should get a full apology published about the how this situation is a beat up and a misrepresentation of the safety of the sport

If this was real - this chick would be severely injured if not dead -

Yeh kiting is really dangerous, people should consider less hazardous sports for sure...I mean the news is always factual right.

Seriously, you guys need to loosen up a bit. It's a TV show remember? A dramatisation?

Maybe they shouldn't show car crashes, motorbike crashes, rock climbing accidents...I could go on and on and on.

Does it mean that people won't drive cars? Nope.

Does it mean people won't ride motorbikes or go rock climbing?? I don't think so.

Its a dramatisation and just that. Sheesh...Fair dinkum. Hope none of you watch Underbelly or you might all stop shaving.

Let them not join the sport.... There'd be less new tossers asking all the same bloody questions on this forum!

Notice what brand it was... Haaahaaa least it wasnt a Link!... If it was a link, It may be closer to a true event, 'cause those things were a battle and a half to control.

If they'd done their homework, they'd see a Cabrinha would have suited the scene best.
But I suppose SS needed to up their profile a bit.

Hi Chadster,
My name is Holly, I was the stunt double (not the chick on the building).

I'm stoked that I can evoke so much emotion in you and thanks for posting this.

As far as you saying that this, and I quote, "is the most defamatory thing you have ever seen", then congratulations, if this is the biggest issue in your life you're one of the lucky ones. I work with people living with cancer every day and my goodness, they just go through so much, put up with what they are dealt with and have the most amazing, beautiful attitudes to life that I have ever seen. It is such an inspiration.

And then I get on this forum and read the verbal diarrhea that you have so posted and I think to my self, wow, If only that person put as much effort into appreciating life and how lucky we are to be able to enjoy our free, Australian lifestyles; that we are healthy and fit enough to be able to enjoy what we all love doing most, kitesurfing.

Was the acting bad? absolutely. Was the script worse? Definitely.
Quote "their technical rescue skills aren't even sound", is laughable and demonstrates your youth which makes me smile. These are professional actors, these people never studied health at university level or enrolled in SES courses.

From an industry point of view, if anything it sends a message that there are serious consequences when undertaking extreme sports and perhaps it is a good idea to invest in a handful of lessons from persons who are trained and qualified in teaching kitesurfing, rather than "dude" giving "man" a lesson with poorly informed instruction.

I hope that life is looking up for you in the future and I can only hope your week improves from here on in.

Kind Regards

They may not have got realism into the details, but there has been an accident where a kiter was killed and he hit the side of a very high hotel before being dragged over it.

Hey chadster...you def got a bit carried away there....the viewing audience for this show I would say is very marginal so the negative impact (not that i think there is any)on the kiting community is zero...
And Holly is right way bigger issues to get upset over...whenever I think im having a bad day and have something to whinge about I think of the millions of people who don't even know what leisure time is because they are to busy just surviving in more ways than one ...let alone being able to indulge in the activities we have access to ....so just keep things in perspective

Oh dear ,.the two winkies at the end of my post indicate that I am kidding (I could not find the tongue in cheek emoticon). The winkies are supposed to be interpreted that they apply to the comment "thanks holly 3 lessons lined up just cancelled" and not the ones before that (as IMO the show is quite appalling ,badly written and acted with implausable scenarios), I hope that this clears things up

Just as a side note I am inclined to agree with this statement "Anyone put off having lessons after seeing that shouldn't be on the water in the first place"(but not the context in regard to my post ,I was kidding)
